even "Cheers"?

I say cheers a lot, but never "Cheers, mate" or something like that. It seems ever so silly.

Accent is everything.

this.. People in the states being oh so funny and mimicing my accent got old quickly :) People saying mate or whatever with a US accent does sound plain wrong. Dunno what the reverse would be, as in US words that Brits use, but I'm sure it sounds just as laughable.

Most Americans English impressions sound like bad Austin Powers attempts.

also, Bristol boys attempting Jamaican Patois makes me both giggle and cringe.

Kinda on subject, I remember seeing this a while ago, some people speculating as to what the further evolutions of language might become, and if there ever became a world wide language what it might be. I think they figured it would be some form of hybrid with bits of English, Mandarin, Hong Kong Cantonese, Russian, and regional variations from original native dialects. I thought it was pretty cool idea, reminded me a bit of the street speak in Gibson Books and Blade Runner.

just me me a chuckle though, if something like this did happen, the people who get so worked up about calling a railway station a train station would explode!

"i could care less" - that's always bugged me, man. can i get a witness? lol

Yes it's a frustrating expression since whenever it's used, the person using it means the literal exact opposite.

I'M SORRY FOR BEING ME I CAN'T HELP THE WAY I AM

my friends and i call each other niggas, but we have to watch ourselves when we're in public 'cause we have white skin. i just want a word to express brotherly affection that isn't "bro" :(

Arse sounds stupid no matter who says it.

As an American I am glad arse hasn't caught on here, I imagine I would get my ass kicked for saying that in public. When people call each other "mate" It seems like more of an Australian thing and it's way better than "bro" though I prefer "chum".

nahhh....unfortunately the Brits lose on this one

the correct way of acknowledging a friend is "my man"

its got funk, its smooth, and clearly indicates the bequeath of heterosexual life-partner status onto another.

i use bud or bubs instead of mate. or dude.
