dubstep, dnb and ambient here. 100% glitch-free. I think such sound treatments are cheesy as fuck, even worse when they're in some "experimental" tune with lousy harmony.

Generally I find glitch noises to sound rather canned when they're used outside of a 100% full-on glitchy monstrosity. Not always, but a lot of times when I hear a reverby ambient track with some BZZZRRTTTBZZIITTTT beats thrown into the middle it feels weird. It needs context, yo

Kids these days etc *shakes fist, reminisces about internet electronic music of my youth*

I just wondered if any of you guys are making the above.

EDIT: Oh, I thought it said 'deep dub'

true, but not as cheesy as dubstep and drum and bass producers fixation on using horribly overused preset drum libraries and synth patches. If i hear another canned bongo sample from a 1995 rompler keyboard in a dubstep track again i think im going to take a shit the face of the person in question.

I'm making a kind of juke meets UK garage track atm, but I'm not working very quickly...

btw YLC ain't what it used to be...

Sounds fresh mate. I can't say juke has particularly grabbed me as a genre but I did shake my toosh somewhat to a juke tune the other night down in the Rhythm Factory. I was all manic legs and arms flailing like some early prodigy rave nutter lol.

Yeah too many selfish assholes. I've got one person in mind who I'd love to ban just 'cause he's been a consistent spammer and never comments on other folks tune. You know who you are especially as you're the ugliest person on watmm lol.

What the fuck is juke?

Hard to explain. Best do a search. Its basically like a sort of fast electro with lots of 808 sounds especially the rims, tom toms and claves. Oh yeah Planet Mu have released a lot of it. I can't say I'm that big a fan but I've heard the odd tune that's grabbed me.

Sounds fucking lame. Wonder how long it's going to be before people abandon the analog x0x obsession. Don't get me wrong, the 505, 707 and 909 are pretty great but 303, 606, 808 have been done to DEATH augh

I think you can get a LOT more varied sound out of a guitar/piano/violin than a fucking 303. At least; a 303 used in the way 99% of electronic producers use them.

edit: Just to clarify, I have no problem with using analog or analog modeling sounds, I just think that straightforward pure use of the aforementioned machines has been exhausted..

I can't hear shit.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

yeah it's sounding pretty good! basically a sparse uk garage beat with speedy toms + synth bass stabs...well, so far anyway....need to finish it..

change the record man, people always banging on about things being done to death, especially if it's got an 808 in it or whatever...juke is basically a kind of new(ish) ghetto sound out of chicago with all the attributes mentioned by promo. it's simple, often low-fi, and badly made. but that's what makes it good y'know? there's a lot of shit juke stuff, but some of it is pretty good! sneaksta's also a fan I believe...

yep. that's juke lol. but thing is, years ago i used to hate aphex twin, totally didn't get it, thought girl-boy was all out of sync and not dancable enough, and SAW2 incredibly boring...it was only when I accepted that I didn't understand it, but listened to it anyway, that I started to realise how good it really was. then I was hooked...

not saying juke is anywhere near comparative to aphex, but I think a lot of people just dismiss it, because it doesn't sound like what they think is "good"...if you just listen to it without any preconceptions though, you can usually find some aspects that appeal to your aesthetic and work from there...

some tracks are just shit though admittedly.

Well I looked at a few tracks on youtube and can't say that anything stood out at all. I'm not saying people shouldn't be into it but nothing about the genre interests me. Then again I'm a bit of a pop bitch when it comes to melodic content in electronic music. Unless it's Autechre, but that's a different story.
