current ISO 9000 watmm standard:

1) random board change/upgrade/alteration/etc. surprises board members like a leaky waterbed on monday morning.

2) board members complain. management lays down the law, quite often on rhombix.

3) arguments. things settle down.

proposed OVR 9000 watmm standard:

1) board change/upgrade/alteration/etc. is announced i.e. "we'll be doing this on monday sometime."

2) announcement post serves as a lightning rod to attract whining and drama. ideally, there would be two-way communication at this point.

3) lack of drama on roll-out date allows watmm's engineering team to meet OVR 9000 standards

i feel this will provide for a more satisfactory board atmosphere

LOL, still butthurt about the board upgrade...

well the board upgrade made quite a mess, didn't it? here is a fictional conversation that describes my perspective

tbh, joyrex, chatmm really IS the only reason I've come around in the last six months.

Well, three months at least trololol

I really liked chatmm. 3/4ths of the time it was just stupid shit and spam links, but the other 1/4th there were some really great conversations and music exchanges going on. Best parts were when dj mixes were broadcasted by chatmm members and talked about in an intellectual manner, of all things.

I would have never found out about several awesome music artists that frequent here without chatmm, either. It was a good thing to have.

Fair enought chatmm is gone. But why are the fucking blogs staying? Who the fuck uses those?

Well, obviously not you. I considered getting rid of those as well, but I see the blogs as potentially more useful and relevant as a music maker here might use their blog to promote their work to the Community, or have a more centralized platform to discuss their music or what's on their mind rather than simply posting or creating a thread.

Remember, this is a site about electronic music, and those who make it as well - you do remember that, right?

I remember. Theres 3 EKT subforums, all related around making of music. Then all the subforums for the individual artists, then more for other artists, and then more for new releases.

I still don't see the reasoning behind keeping the blogs. Are you waiting around for people to cop that the blogs are a great utility? If it's not being used then why not axe it. Plus, only ekt plus can have a blog.

Chatmm was far more useful for showcasing new tracks and getting instant feedback, instead of a blog that no one looks at. Fair enough illegal files and all that, but I never got any links off anyone, to the best that I can remember anyway.

I wont cry about it, but your logic hurts my head.

Get rid of Gen Ban then. I'm not sure if you're aware, but chatmm definitely had more music-oriented conversation. people shared tracks and could get more feedback than in YLC and encouraged each other to get the ball moving in terms of production. Some members albums got synced shortly after being released. And I know there were a few collaborations/projects that were discussed through chatmm and probably never would have happened without chatmm. A lot of Crap Music was made by chatmmers. Not to mention syncing in general and it was also a place where even trolls could be civil at times.

You're trolling - implying I'm mad about the board upgrade and the reaction to it... AND, I did announce (not in my typical style, but in threads where most of the CHATMM regulars would see it) that CHATMM was probably going away.
