Scintilli - Reactions

Yeah but fuck that shit. If I'd have known that I wouldn't actually get to download it until release day I would have gone with the 2xLP order.. I thought at the very least that the t-shirt would come before release day and the code would be 'unlocked' at some point.

unfortunate as it is, i'd say that is lesson learned :(

it's up to you whether you buy an LP-T from bleep again or not.

as for what you can do in the mean time, you have already paid for the LP-T so I would say, torrent the shit out of the album and feel no guilt.

your mileage may vary.

my reaction: 1 minute into the first track, they start doing that jingly jangly shit that i hate. only 3 tracks out of 13 are longer than 4 mins.

LOL

shut up shut up!!!!!!!!!! :wtf: stop being honest and telling the truth!!!!!!!!!!! i'm not going to be able to sleep tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(just kidding) ;)

seriously, though, for an album that's been so long in the making, it's way too fucking short.

it's like half an album. it's over before you know it! i don't like that about it.

i seriously think the album must've changed several times over the years... this just doesn't sound like they spent that much time on it at all.

i prefer Heaven's Door as an album/soundtrack/entire piece. Scintilli sounds... incomplete, kinda......... it's almost like 2 different EP's stuck together...

fuck this, i'm going out for a walk before i make myself all angry.

maybe because the download code is attached to the tshirt?

ummm, you really think that´s the answer to my question? peeps who pre-ordered the cd or vinyl get the music today and physical-item on release day. people who pre-ordered the shirt including the download-code will not get the music today and the shirt on release day. how does that makes sense? using the facepalm makes you look like a retard.

no using the facepalm makes me look like i know what the deal is with the LP-T

the download code is physically attached to the t-shirt. that's how they have always been, since Bleep started selling them.

edit: Maybe you should complain to Bleep customer services and see how far it gets you?

i enjoy the short tracks totally. they introduce their originality, present a modification - and exit. my only criticism of the entire album would be the abrupt endings on most tracks... but what does that really matter when the songs contained are so memorable and enjoyable? overall I wasn't bored a single time during my playthough and found every song to contain at least 1 element which would make me return to it with pleasure.

the whole thing is tied together with a similar aura. you feel like you're journeying, similar to the feeling you get listening to Quaristice [a compliment, in my opinion].

for instance, look at the cover. it's this weird and incomprehensibly structured cube. that's what the songs are like. they are miniature but complex and sculptured in their own way - best understood in comparison with one another. you can't really wrap your head around the rhythms and intricacies - at least not based on one or two listens! musically, there is something to this that is rather advanced and mature. good show!!!

put simply - no matter how good the album may be, because of the anticipation, this album will not sate the fans.

BoC - the same fate awaits you in.......WATEMM

I wonder why it's 2xLP if it's all short tracks, hmm. Same with d'Demonstrator - 2xLP at 45rpm really ruins the flow, imo.

well i like it! a lot actually. not life-changing... nothing moving IDM forward, but great little tracks. IDM doesn't have to be 8 min epics. I like it this way sometimes too.

45rpm gives you better sound quality though.

We are living in the 21st century my friends. slow and lenghty is far long gone. it's all about the short, fast and immediate now.

Get with the times bros.

There is neither old nor new Plaid. It's always changing.

Personally i am glad that i can still put my hands on such music, amongst all the disgusting ready-made shit that is being released almost every second nowadays.

At Last might be the most beautiful thing i have heard in a while. It is pure magic and i am not surprised if it makes me cry on of these days.

at last is a really good track. this album does loads of stuff that i like about plaid. good job.

meanwhile - the local maternity ward - nurse comes in with a great big sledgehammer

this is very true. was thinking this whilst walking round the block, nearly getting blown over by the crazy wind out there tonight!

what i do respect about Plaid and this album, tho, is that they do try different things and they've tried to do something a bit different with Scintilli. unlike people like, say, Autechre, who know what their fans want and give it to them (almost) every time. but that's a bit boring, imho. like i've said before, it's always just 'more of the same' from Ae. whereas at least Plaid try to keep it interesting, for themselves aswell as other people/fans. and obviously there's reason behind why the album and the tracks are so short. it's not like Plaid can't do 5-10 minute long tracks! cos they can and they've done loads before! and it's not like they didn't have enough music to make this a longer album, either! the tracks are short and the choice of tracks are on there for a reason, and on purpose. still, it puzzles me why they've released Scintilli like this. but the tracks i do like i REALLY do like!! and even tho they're short, they're quite dense. there's a lot going on... which why this album needs more listens and deserves more attention.

Lolwut. Each new Autechre album sounds nothing like the last!

i actually felt quite emotional and had goosebumps during the first part of the album, i was really excited, but then suddenly i found myself at the half-way point already, and was thinking 'awww shit...',,,, these tracks aren't very long, and there's another one gone, 3 minutes, fuck.. this is going too quick, and now that one's over. shit!!!!!!!!! kinda dissapointed by that in quite a big way, tbh.

but it's like oscillik said about the anticipation... it's be so long coming, the hype and expectation for things like this, they're never quite the same in reality as they are in your own mind... and they never really live up to your expectations. it's the same with films.

lol. seriously? they've been doing the same thing for years! it's always just "another variation on a theme". Autechre doing more Autechre.. again.

not that i don't like a lot of it. but i also find a lot of it boring as shit..

this is true.

i wasn't bored by any of it either.

How is Oversteps similar to anything they've ever done?

it might seem overly harsh to come out with such a negative rant after listening to it twice but seriously, this is very easily their weakest album and several years in the making apparently. unbelievable. i very much doubt it will grow on me in the coming months. it's not a patch on the first three plaid albums and the stuff they were doing under black dog almost twenty years ago makes this look amateurish. a career ending album maybe?! i dunno...it just seems like a very lazy offering from a duo that is capable of so much more.
