im not losing my shit, you're just annoying as hell.

you dont seem to have an opinion on anything except what ive said

I mentioned an artist whose music imo hasn't aged well, then I took issue with your claims - as have others - for the very reason that you knowingly take them beyond opinions. how do you not get this?

anyway, I know there'll be much more ferocity on your end, so I'll end the pissing contest here

well in all honesty i did not feel like i was stating a claim since this is kind of a subjective issue. this is what i stated like three times that it was only my opinion. if you and others wish to take offense then im sorry not much i can do about that.

i'm watching fawlty towers just now! i think that's a friction lovely series! in my opinion..

and its just so lovely that people don't think exactly as I'm thinking!

what would the world look like otherwise... ;)

most electronic music does not age well with a few notable exceptions. this is probably due to its artifical nature and the fact that electronic music as a whole is debatable whether it is even legitimate music. (again, with a gew notable exceptions).

aged well:

metallica

guns n roses

Most music sounds stupid over time, but I think it's fun to just like what you like and enjoy it for what it's worth. I really do like, say, Lipswitch from Richard Devine, but as some of you say it sounds dated but, I think you just gotta mellow out and enjoy it for whatever reason that you may find in it. I'm an older guy and you learn that it's all just trends. That chillwave stuff in 10 years will probably just sound really terrible, just like a lot of the computer music glitch stuff of the early 00's sounds dated. I really like Geometry from Jega but I was listening to it today and the stuttering effects on it are just way over the top and makes it sound really dated but it's still very intricate programming and that makes it fun to listen to. Oh well just imos.:)

I don't really understand the mentions of Kraftwerk, I mean sure, in this age of retro fetishism, if their albums were released recently I wouldn't be surprised but that's not the point of this thread, right? I think other German electronic artists like Cluster or Harmonia have stood the test of time better than Kraftwerk.

yeah but kraftwerk were so much more intellectually and conceptually interesting that they get a free pass. (despite still sounding amazing)

dmx krew's street boys is clearly a pastiche of / homage to early 80s music done 15 yrs later anyway so i don't think it's really fair to say it has aged badly

Aged well :

Orbital - Halcyon On and On

Hive - Inside The Hive

Did not age well :

I was just thinking about how almost the entire genre of Big Beat didn't age well . Every time I hear big beat music I start thinking about cheesy 90's action movies, or bad X GAMES montage videos

Cirrus - Stop and Panic ( 0:44 - 0:51 Jesus Christ LOL  )

I wasn't a fan of this song when it first came out , so maybe this isn't far

The Crystal Method - Trip Like I DoKanyexploitable-1.png

You know, I still hear "Trip Like I Do" all the time... *queue Michael Bay directed explosion" But Jesus Christ... the worst Big Beat > Brostep

A few of the releases were ok, Chemical Brothers moved on and never sucked IMO. I still listen to the Bentley Rhythm Ace LP on occasion, they didn't take themselves as seriously. I'm a Fatboy Slim apologist to some degree to.

There's a nostalgia factor to all of it for me anyway, I'll add PS1 games up there with X-games and late 90s action movie montages.

Apply this to music.

Anyone read Simon Reynolds' articles lately? That graph could easily be part of his recent statements/musings.

I preferred the remix some time later when all that buzzy electro was all the rage

which now also sounds a little dated

lol Fucking Bay . Yeah, a nice amount of it is cheesy as hell , but it does make me nostalgic ( Cirrus and The Crystal Method pretty much ruled 90's video game soundtracks ) Early Chemical Brothers are one of the few big beat artist I can listen to without cringing . Somehow they managed to dodge that facepalm bullet .

And yes, I prefer the remix of Trip Like I do over the original , soundwave. Sadly , that song is shambling from old age too .

As for Lunatic Calm....I'm on the fence lol

Hahaha! I forgot all about that damn soundtrack. Prodigy's One Man Army is quite a cringer .

And I'm glad somebody pointed out that monotonous horn sound ( top rated comment ) It's like Liam found some premade yamaha song and added a few effects to it . And I refuse to believe thats Tom Morello

Man...I use to really like this song  That horn always killed me though .
