oh man . . thanks for the memories

Digger (not sure this was even properly DOS)

Arctic Adventure

Crystal Caves

Lots of Apogee platform games I forget the names of . .Clyde something?

Electro Body (JESUS IS HERE)

Duke Nukem I & II

Commander Keen

Betrayal at Krondor

Quarantine (SO FUCKING GOOD, how did they screw up the sequel so badly?)

Wolfeinstein/Doom etc

I'm sure more memories will come with time

Fuck yeah Crystal Caves!

and ELECTRO BODY! I randomly picked that up from a newsagent once (they had a stall with shareware on 3.5" floppies for sale, probably not quite legal) and it was awesome.

Damnit, I wish there were versions of those old platform games on DS/iphone, I'd play the fuck out of them (I'm not getting a gp2x or whatever, I already have enough portable game consoles, don't want to spend money on another one)

Lemmings was my favorite, and I think my dad actually completed the entire game.

The graphic on this amazed me at the time. And crashing was fun.

Ah man, Stunts was amazing. I used to make some of the craziest tracks for it. The crashes were the most fun part though.

If you have a friend at hand, Rampart is a must!

www.petergaber.com is where I keep my paintings. I used to have a kinky tumblr, but it exploded.

oh man, I'm glad they aren't available on android, for precisely that reason. I'm shocked that anyone else played Electro Body . . such a weird game. fixed jump lengths were rrrrghhh

Bolo

Boomerang

Masters of Orion

SimAnt and SimWolf . . never took off but loved those

The Lemmings music was fantastic

Master of Magic had the best opening sequence. "OLD MAN . . WE SEEK THE SPELL OF MASTERY..." That's right, one way to win the game was to cast THE SPELL OF MASTERY. And then you would win.

My brother and I used to play Doom deathmatch over COM1. The serial port. It would always take like a day to set up.

Was there a game called Alpha Centauri? Space civ type game? All I remember is my dad making fun of me because the computer had such a sexy female voice. "Yessss, commander, WHATEVER YOU WANT"

XCOM

Zork et al: I tried my hand but too tedious for me. Even though I still want to finish the one I started in qbasic.

Incredible Machine!!! How many sticks of dynamite could you fit on the screen?

Day of the Tentacle

Carmen Sandiego

whew too bad I have to "do stuff" today or I'd be in this thread forever.

DS

There is something you can use to get dos stuff working on the DS. DS-DOS I think. I set it up because I wanted to see if I could get deluxe paint working on it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It worked ok.

yeah tie fighter was the best but x-wing... i got it right when it came out (i was 8) and it came on 5 3.5" floppies and cost me like $60. from sears.

i was one weird kid.

oh fuck yeah privateer too. i sucked at it but my dad had it and i looooved trying to play it.

who knew you would meet other weird kids on idmz mszbrd. let us not devolve into a contest of childhood weirdness. we may learn too much

Spectre

War-8 (super old tank game)

Battlezone

Warcraft I & II

Cosmo's Big Adventure

We disallowed from Syndicate after my parents realized the first mission was to assassinate a politician. I remember my dad being all "WHAT IF THERE WAS A CHILD ABUSE GAME WOULD YOU PLAY THAT"

x wing and tie fighter all the way. hooray.

through the years, a man peoples a space with images of provinces, kingdoms, mountains, bays, ships, islands, fishes, rooms, tools, stars, horses and people. shortly before his death, he discovers that the patient labyrinth of lines traces the image of his own face.

Alley Cat was probably the first game I ever played. Another one that my dad finished, hah!

And yeah, Doom deathmatches were excellent. I used to play against my brother and a friend, one on one via parallel port all the time. On custom levels too!

redneck rampage? that was a weird game.

Lol yeah! Had forgotten all about this one, gotta get back on that for certain.

Dungeon Keeper I also have a soft spot for, the voice of the dungeon master or whatever was brilliant.
