well, its definitely not as big as san andreas, no idea where that chat came from. initial opinion, exactly like the other GTA's, honed to perfection. played for a few hours last night but got abit bored.

really enjoying the in-car chat on missions though, flows as naturally as a film.

I watched 2 hrs of youtube gameplay footage last night (lol, pathetic I know) and I was surprised how bored I felt. The game world looks beautiful, but I guess I'm just getting old. It seemed like the same old "jack car, change hairstyle, pimp ride, chat with NPCs, drive somewhere, accidentally kill some pedestrians, yada yada yada".

The exception were the "story missions" (forget what they're called exactly), I watched the one where they hit FIB headquarters, it was quite gripping for a GTA game. That seemed to be one area in which they've really improved, besides graphics (though I remember GTA4 had that great heist sequence too).

Re: graphics, I wouldn't complain. The street views and countryside are breathtakingly realistic to me. Almost hyper-realistic, they capture some dreamlike quality of being in a real city, just amplified a little bit because the elements and weather patterns were more carefully and consciously selected.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

Did a very enjoyable heist, and a lot of generic GTA jobs, so far, about 12 hours play including many hours trying to blow shit up.

Not too sure yet. Within missions, it's instant and as you would expect it to run (similar to lost vikings or something. There have been extra pauses and cutscenes here and there to keep the flow good and not too overwhelming.)

As for outside of missions, there is a brief loading screening of like 12 seconds(?) or so, with the map zooming out then back in on new location. The times that I've done it have been real natural. With the character walking out of a shop or sitting in bed. Haven't yet changed character into mid-action sequence..

It's definitely worth playing, over just viewing. The driving mechanics are so much fun to just dart around with. The camera plays into this. The driving mechanics plays into it. The way you can just drive onto a mountain cliff side and not get interrupted by stones or logs is just so much fun and feels "game-y". Once in the air, the can shift the cars position by move the left control stick. Again, it feels totally game-y but feels so good.

As for the graphics. They're so rich. The shifts and diversity in lighting is the winning part of the graphics I think. Everything is so rich and stands out, but totally with a natural logic to lighting and shadows.

Girlfriend helped me pay for GTA V today because I couldn't afford it and she wanted to watch me play, got to play for a few hours and it seems amazing so far, and crazy in-depth. Gf had to go to bed though because she works in the morning, which means because she helped pay for it and actually likes watching the story/missions I have to wait to play again. Kinda sucks because I really want to dive-in and go nuts, but I'll deal.

do you guys think they kind of missed the boat by never attempting a GTA: Europe or something?

I'm kind of tired of looking at the same old US locations. I guess they are exporting the "US thug life image" to the rest of the world and that works for them in terms of sales, but I would love to see them branch out. Would love to smash Rome or Paris or Berlin.

Game is perfect for me so far. Not a single bad thing to say about it, and I haven't even left the city left. Or done any of the side activities other than the gun range.

My dog is a huge fan of Chop too.

i could appreciate somewhere asian, actually. somewhere that combined real slum/low-end crimes and then merged into big city modern neon light stuff.

i feel gta works as an american thing as it really derives from american culture, like movies (crime movies, etc.) and secondly because it loves poking fun at dumb american culture.

like, im reading a lot of reviews and articles going on how the game is sexist and misogynist in how it treats females. but, (and i haven't played the game an awful lot to really comment or confirm if this applies to the whole game) but i feel this is almost missing the point, as the game is taking the piss out of current american culture and society. and if that means, viewing women as 'objects' or portraying them in a certain way, then it's doing so in line with the games general method of satire.

(but, perhaps i'm wrong, and the game truly gets sexist and nasty later on? i'm not sure..).

so in the same regard, i feel as though a GTA game outside of america may miss the point a little. i mean, it could work, and it would probably still be awesome, but i feel it would lose a bit of its charm.

perhaps they could do a spinoff game (ala. Red Dead Redemption being GTA in country western), as a opposed to a straight up GTA: EUROPE.

Already encountered a glitch. Some ganster was following me with his car, so I stop my car to shoot him. He gets out, and right when he gets out I shoot him in the head or something, and he flew like 10 meters high up in the air. I hope they dont fix the glitch.

Pretty sure I made a glitchflight somewhere too. Can't remember how.

I was doing the side mission where you have to pick up the cars with a tow truck and realized something cool. Spoiler alert below...

Spoiler Alert -

I was doing a side mission yesterday where you have to help this crackwhore out by taking her husbands tow truck and doing a few pick-ups becuase he's high or something....I don't remember the details exactly but it was something like that.

Anyway after I completed the mission I kept the tow truck and just drove around a bit, I was just slowly pulling out of the lot to cross an intersection and the tow hitch accidentally hooked on to a passing car and hoisted the car a bit off the ground. The driver of the car started screaming and jumped out and rolled on to the road, at the same time there was a "random" police chase happening in the background - nothing to do with me. At that exact moment that the driver rolled on to the road the police car ran him over and killed him, then just kept driving. I laughed out loud. It's occurances like that that make the game worth while to me.

I sometimes wonder if the chaos is actually built in to the game intentionally or if sometimes it's just a hilarious repercussion of have millions of moving parts interacting randomly, I think it's stuff like this that makes GTA so enjoyable though.

That was the most GTA moment in 2013 for me.

ive watched a bunch of gameplay videos and so far I've seen none that switch characters, so it is something that's not available right at the start of the game?

I take that back, i did see one but it just seems to be them always at home on the phone or something, is this how it always is? I seem to remember them promising almost like a random life element to it, where youd jump into the character while he could be in a car, taking a walk or involved in a fight with someone.

im thinking of buying the PS3+gtaV bundle just to play this game, but would it be smarter for some reason to get an xbox360 if i already have a blueray player? The graphics seem identical i guess except for some texture loading issues off the disc on the xbox360 from what I've read

You unlock the whole switching thing a few hours into the game.

If you don't have a console already, I'd say get the PS3 version because of the game being on one disc and the free online play (PSN is still free, right?)
