I've seen about 50 lists around threads and magazines... not a single one mentions Parastrophics by Mouse on Mars. IS there something I'm missing here? Why is this group so systematically ignored by absolutely everybody? It seriously doesn't make any sense to me how people can agree constantly on just about everything... down to the most mundane albums. But this very clearly, at the very least, "as Good as all the other shit on those lists" album isn't mentioned about 99.9% of the time. And we can objectively say that there isn't a single group that does live performance like these guys. What the fuck gives?

I agree that the underratedness of MoM is weird, and absurd, but do you really expect anything more than mediocrity and laziness from most music journalists/ websites? They mainly promote shit-cunt rubbish music, to borrow a line from dillinja. we know better.

Interstate by Monolake is the most underrated album I can think of. One of my personal all-time favorites. A true masterpiece.

Interstate is a work of brilliance, but Perpetuum.... that track annoys me and kinda ruins the flow.. too samey for me, but yet. Interstate. fucking 1999. holy wow.

Really?.. That's one of my favorites on the album. Gecko is the one that kind of ruins the flow for me. Only track I don't like on the album.

Terminal might be one of my favorite all-time tracks. Unbelievably good:

Ahhh yes, that's nice. I remember when Monolake was good!

But... not liking Perpetuum or Gecko!? C'mon guyz step it up!

yeah but:

I agree MoM are a bit underrated in idm-fanboy circles (e.g. here), but I've actually found them to be critically praised in most articles/reviews I've read on them (Bitchfork seems to have a particular hard-on , seeing as they conveniently fit into that whole 'maximalism' story arc). They do seem to get passed over though when it comes to best-of lists, like how autoditacker is seldom acknowledged as one of the best electronic albums of the 90s/ever

Ryan Hemsworth.

I think it's an Abilene Paradox were no one wants to flat-out say "this guy is meh." It's not bad, I like a few songs here and there but there are so many peers of his I rather listen to. If anyone heard a really good remix or track of his feel free to point me there because so I far I don't get the hype.

Just about all of Frank Black's solo LPs are underrated.

Some of the best songwriting ever, imo.

Especially the first two.

Those should be on everyone's top 100, top 50 and top 10 lists.

Underrated:

amazed people even think mention the beatles............. I mean jesus fucking christ. Sometimes people on this board are so blind to music being conceptual, and how that adds value, which makes sense for electronic music as it is usually void of that.

If the Beatles should be remembered for anything it's that they (pretty much) single handedly brought the usually completely disparate worlds of classical experimental composition/music and mega-pop music together for a brief couple of years. For having the guts and creative insight to do that is impressive. That will never happen again.

Your worship of The Beatles and attitude towards people who dare not to like them is presicely the reason why I can't stomach them. I don't really like being told what I should and should not like, but Beatles fans just can't help themselves.......It's like if you hate them, and most of the people I know can't fucking stand them, we should still be thankful because no music nowadays as we know it wouldn't exist. LoL, seeing as most mainstream music is a cesspit of shit I don't think that's really a great badge of honour.

You need to learn the difference between "like" and "appreciate," I think. He's not (I hope) telling you to that you have to enjoy their music, but even if it isn't your thing it was very important. Also, I think that it's one of those things you have to acknowledge as objectively good even if you don't personally like it.

If you don't "appreciate" (read: understand) The Beatles' contribution to the world of music (yes, all of it) then IMO you are under-educated on the matter.

Actually I take that back...not "IMO"...it's an objective demonstrable fact.

And yeah if you don't like them then that's another thing and that's fine but if there was no Sgt. Pepper's then there wouldn't be [most likely at least half of your all-time favorite records].

i agree but you can't ignore the fact that they made some pretty horrible songs - i think the most popular ones are the shittiest even lol, especially the ones written by mccartney

Agree, although I think McCartney's songs have their place. This has been talked to death for some fifty years so the conversation might as well be dropped.

over-

Daft Punk

Bought the first couple of singles off Homework, still love them. Discovery was fresh & uplifting but now they can fuck off.

They slag off electronic music saying it's stuck in the past whilst they're busy pimping tepid disco songs to American housewives, all the while acting like they're all shy wearing their masks.

That new single is shiiiiiiit and everyone and their dad is fapping about it.

Under-

Plenty of artists from the 90s have pretty much been forgotten, SALT TANK spring to mind.
