sorry for being a tool but have there been any previews of these tracks definitively put out yet? How do we know they are the same tracks on myspace? Is the mediafire zip the same as the myspace tracks or is it a fake?

second track has a strong smell of squarpushing to it. is this going to be the long lost album of aphex pusher?

edit: same for the first track. this sounds more like sqpusher to me.

Mmm indeed, is this for all intents and purposes MEN3? It sounds quite old school (well in terms of that fast paced DSP fuelled genre) so would kinda fit the time frame of when they talked about it.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

I don't know if that evocation make sense but I remember reading in the last Squarepusher interview that the next release he would put out would be more "dark and experimental", or something like that.

According to all the tracks I've heard (which are coming from the internet zip), I strongly believe this could be a collaboration between him and that richard dude.

Hmmm, Richard dude sounds like it would be his fabricated internet persona.

Richard Del Ray Pusher? Sounds like a serious amount of botox being involved!

why the hell is anyone using boomkat as a gauge for releases? they've always had guesswork dates, the rephlex releases aren't the only ones that's been treated like this. use the Rephlex distro (SRD) for news about releases, they usually blog them once every week.

meanwhile - the local maternity ward - nurse comes in with a great big sledgehammer

i never failed to be amusedwhen people assume things like this are actually Richard D James or Squarepusher. While it is really good and skilled sounding i think far more people out there than those 2 are capable of making music like this, especially post Drukqs or Go Plastic. Those albums were made in 2001, does it really surprise anyone that an up and coming musician would be able to recreate that style perfectly 11 years later?

and let me say it another way, if this is RDJ + tom it's some of the most uncharacteristic and expected work they've ever done, which alone is enough for me to know its not them.

I'm hardly a closed minded nun. Remember, I'm on a fucking IDM forum.... an IDM forum.. Think about that for a second before claiming people are closed minded nuns.

So no one really knows for sure then...

that's like saying no one know for sure there isn't a god, so...

FH&W Acid is a good comparison because that song has, I feel, equally high production values as Steinvord. It's got some real slurpy gloop to the compression and saturation or whatever. It's got some real thick thumpy snap to the snappy tapdance sound. It sounds expensive. I'm sure people will fleeh-flah this observation but I still think there's a difference between what Aphex sounded/sounds like and what most other people sound like in this respect. For example, while JK and Monolith definitely have some Tuss- or AFX-like arrangements to their music, I don't feel like they sound very much like AFX in terms of the texture or heft of their mix. I like them too, but like, I would be shocked if this was Monolith.

Production-wise, whoever this person is, fuck. You are awesome.

Plus Squarepusher+Aphex is disguise in great IDM fanfic, you gotta love it. I mean Lyff DOES start out a lot like that Go Plastic track, whatever it's called. And then just before the drums there some squelch that bubbles up with a REALLY roomy tone to it, not at all like an average reverb plugin, but like a real room, just like we know Aphex likes.

And then of course the drums sound a lot like Aphex to me, from the way they're mixed (loud, equalized, and with some real gloop on them) and articulated (a lot of funk being brought by different amounts of gating, for example).

But I don't really care! I would like to own the songs though. You know, somehow. CD would be best. But really FLAC would be acceptable as well.
