The record is sample based with this weird minimal aesthetic that's pretty different to his previous works (ie. no layers of arpeggiators and delays). It's good though. http://soundcloud.com/mexicansummer/02-power-of-persuasion Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/70012-memorable-releases-for-2011/page/2/#findComment-1696514 Share on other sites

Guest sljiva
Haven't really been impressed with a lot of this year's stuff. Tons of good releases, but at the end just good, not spectacular, revolutionary or listen-worthy in 5 years time. Really good ones: Marow - + - 0 (Plus Minus Null) Sandwell District - Sandwell District Plaid - Scintilli Xhin - Swords Machinedrum - Room(s) Good ones (bought anyway): Amon Tobin - ISAM Biosphere - N-Plants Modeselektor - Monkeytown Stendeck - Scintilla Completely disappointed with Deepchord, Kangding Ray, Panda Bear, Seefeel and TV On The Radio (though they kicked ass live when I saw them in summer). Haven't checked out yet (have slight hopes for) Byetone, Vladislav Delay, Alva Noto, Dave Monolith and Phoenecia. Pretty meh year to be honest, unlike the last two.
