this dan c guy seems like a fucking asshole

apparently electronic music has degraded to the point of arguing over whether or not a LMFAO song is good. Music is dead, just like painting.

Finally got around to hearing Replica & it is sweeeet

I think OPN's main strength is being able to take electronic music concepts that once seemed mysterious until they were way overused (IE echoing synth arpeggios on Rifts, wandering reverbed-out melodics on Returnal, & pitched snippet loops of old media on Replica) & somehow reinvigorating them with more transdimensional weirdness than one would have expected from them even in the old days.

2011 was a pretty uneventful year for me musically. I liked a couple of albums, but nothing that everyone else was smitten with or that got much attention. And, to be totally honest, nothing that blew my mind like previous years. None the less, I enjoyed these most:

CoH - IIron

Mondkopf - Rising Doom

Blood Ceremony - Living With the Ancients

Ford & Lopatin - Channel Pressure

That Mondkopf album is actually really something special, kinda miffed that watmm didn't get on that. Listening to it now feels like I've been listening to it for years.
