Peel Sessions CD - ULTRA LIMITED

I listen to BoC occasionally because I enjoy their music, but other on that they aren't on my radar at all. I'll get back to them when they actually have something to sell to the masses, other than vague hints about "something" coming up sometime.

This is one of the main reasons I stopped listening to Boards. They do all this shit just for their precious little inner circle, and make sure everyone finds out about it, but never gets near to any of it. I am sure they have to enjoy having a cult-like fanbase, because otherwise, if they were half-way decent people, they would do a fucking interview or two and legitimately release some back catalog to keep the fans satiated. It's all just a load of shit.

They probably do it so people stay so wrapped up in the hype, that they don't realize that the music is lazy repetitive shit.

I'd agree with some of that. But just don't have the energy any more to join in with your rant. My BoC enthusiasm battery level is almost dead.

I'd also agree with some. The morsels that get through are very interesting, however, and there is charm knowing that this is the one known public copy of Old Tunes that I'm listening to.

I just only hope that they use our invested interest wisely: impress us even if we didn't have an interest in BOC at all, so we'll sure to be amazed even if we're Boards of Fanboys.

"make sure everyone finds out about it" - DJ Food is the one who posted images of this; not Boards - don't go accusing when you don't have the facts straight.

So what?

Not really bothered about this. More BoC wankfestery over something that I aint going to own.

For someone not bothered, you seem rather irritated by knowledge of this now...

I am bothered but not bothered, if you know what I mean.

Bothered because it's more useless news on one of my favorite artists. And not bothered because why on earth would I give a shit about the existence of this cd?

And I can assure you thats the truth.

lol, it has "very limited edition" written on it. Would the band bother to write this if they were given away as presents?

To emphasize the fact that it is, in fact, a limited edition? Thought that was obvious.

AFAIK, this was made from the master recordings used for the Peel Session, so the quality of XYZ is the best available.

meaning you have one i assume.

i don't mind them doing ultra limited stuff. if xyz wasn't out there at all and only 5 people heard it, that is one thing...

i do like the photos a lot, but hate the typography.

Wait, isnt this music already out?

yes. and you can buy it on a CD, too. or a piece of vinyl if you'd prefer.

Soooo, the threads about what then? Shitty physical production?

Even if it is real, as so many in here think it is - I guess my knee jerk reaction to it being fake is because it looks like some fanboy-made thing from Kinkos, right down to the inside sleeve image being a "kaleidoscope" photoshop of...big surprise...a PR photo of the band. How am I the only one who finds all this a little too obvious? And why is it not a possibility that even DJ Food could've been "had" by someone claiming to be who they were not?

Anyway, my second evaluation of this is: If it IS indeed officially from the band, then between the amateurish photoshop job and the "very limited edition" text, it has to be them either A) making fun of themselves or B) taking the piss.

Post-evaluation evaluation - I don't really care either way, I just saw this on the front page yesterday and thought it was just too funny.

yea, real or fake, I could care less. if its real then I think they are definitely poking fun at themselves. if its fake, it's kind of silly that people would freak over it.

whatever, I have good enough versions of those tracks to not give a shit either way. if it was real and I had one, I wouldn't sell it nor would I ejaculate on it so what good would it be to me.

Maybe they were remastering these tracks to come up with new methods for recording. If so, I hope they give away a long string of stuff they've already released in microscopic quantities, it only puts them that much closer to releasing something new.

so which is it, did you stop listening because of non-music related reasons, or was it the fact that the music is lazy, repetitive shit?

is it really that hard to ignore all the extraneous "bullshit"? kinski was spot on with *posting in a thread with 2 pages of people not caring*.

i've been listening to geogaddi the last couple days after not having listened to it much the last couple of years. it's an amazing album because of the music, nothing more, nothing less. i thought the other stuff was a fun diversion for a while there, but it's ultimately about the music, and i don't really understand how anything else can cause someone to listen to a band or not.

666.*typeyournamehere*.com

just fyi, i actually don't think the music is lazy or repetitive. just a shame there isn't that much of it.

and people over analyse, over-everything, of what little there actually is.

Not the last track - it was played, but was not included on the official Peel Session CD for Boards of Canada.

LOL, I love it when people assume I'm joined at the hip with Boards - no, I was aware of this item (someone else I know has one) and was unaware that DJ Food had one, as well as three other people apparently if it's true that there are indeed only 5 copies (considering it's a CD-R with hand-made labels and inserts, probably true).

What really irritates me is someone brought a legitimate bit of interesting BoC info to light here, and all people can do is complain about how Boards are so awful for doing something that frankly was none of anyone's business in the first place to know or even care about, since this was something they made for friends as a personal gift, not some marketing tool or designed to get the fans' panties in a bunch.

What sickens me even more is these so-called 'fans' will be falling over themselves when the new material finally does surface, forgetting all about their frustration-fueled rants from the past several years.
