I don't think I've ever met a feminist. But then I don't get out much. I dunno it just doesn't seem relevant in todays society. It was probably more relevant back when women weren't allowed to vote etc.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feminism

Feminism is a collection of movements aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic, and social rights and equal opportunities for women.

You've probably met hundreds, according to this definition.

My ex was a feminist and an annoying one, cherry picked what she wanted equality on to suit her best, incredibly self-absorbed and short sighted. Ive met lots of lovely ones tho who don't seem to think men are all the spawn of the devil. Funnily enough most of the enlightened ones were from the trans-gender community, who i have a deep respect for.

ahh yeah....again, i hate to keep harping on it...but thats part of feminism that Joan Butler and other feminists HATE..and for good reason....that sort of "feminism" is a power grab and nothing more. helps reinforce a negative stereotype of "feminist" women as well.

wait...Judith Butler? Joan Scott? i cant remember her name now...the lady who wrote Gender Trouble

I dunno why this is bothering me so much lately.

on the other hand, there are tons of transphobic feminists who are idiots.

Judith Butler :sup:

Thank you! Excellent author (even though her language is sometimes excruciatingly annoying)...I was too lazy to go dig up my book.

If every woman became a lesbian they would put men in farms and milk us for semen.

No, haven't you read the SCUM Manifesto? Gosh!

It is now technically possible to reproduce without the aid of males (or, for that matter, females) and to produce only females. We must begin immediately to do so. Retaining the male has not even the dubious purpose of reproduction. The male is a biological accident: the y(male) gene is an incomplete x(female) gene, that is, has an incomplete set of chromosomes. In other words, the male is an incomplete female, a walking abortion, aborted at the gene stage. To be male is to be deficient, emotionally limited; maleness is a deficiency disease and males are emotional cripples.

Woah!! That's some nazi-sounding shit. Superior sex and all that. Does she write that stuff for attention or does she actually believe that? Or maybe both?

I will say that the things the women said were unintelligent, which was funny (in the same way Jerry Springer and Reality Shows are funny). All of the little captions were very stupid though. Not all women are feminists, and the women in these videos weren't (I didn't watch the whole thing, just judging by what I saw). These women were dumb, and the people writing the captions/editing the video were even dumber.

I'm humanist, I don't give it to anyone.

This is where I'm at. I don't treat most people I meet very nicely anymore (if I've gotten to know them and don't like them). Sometimes I worry that women are going to think I'm sexist when I'm not exactly nice to them, but I do treat everyone the same way. I shouldn't worry, It's probably my male-guilt kicking in anyway.

oh man the Solanas story is a real interesting one.

I love researching the over-the-top civil rights extremists like her, Elijah Muhammad, and some others.

was raped by her father too, ended up a prostitute....little wonder she hated men?

usually with psychos theres a history of abuse...sad but true.

I post a video making fun of / not 100% sucking feminism's dick and that makes me a social reject who hates women.

No, you post a blatantly misogynistic and racist video that trivalizes feminism on just about every level in theLEAST funny ways and go har har har look at this you guys this is hilarious and also (unrelated) you are a social reject who hates women.

Christ, disparaissant, jumping down his throat here.

I don't think Vamos is sexist/misogynist. In the op, he said that the video was funny/stupid. The women in this video were "sucking feminism's dick" by saying that men should unequally pamper women (Ex: Pay for dinner always because men are the breadwinners) which is funny in itself.

Yes, the video didn't show a fair portrayal of women (since all of the women sounded pretty dumb/weren't really feminists), but can't we laugh at that?

i guess i just don't find that funny anymore...its been used since 18th century fiction.

and the "satire" part of it wasn't particularly an innovative spin on the subject, nor clever...

i think the problem i have with it is its like a white guy trying to make a sketch so he can say racial slurs without getting in trouble/appearing racist.

theres not much effort involved to fulfill these types of things.

im not making much sense. its a personal view.

man this reminds me of my friend's ex, claimed she was a feminist, but always referred to the glory days of the aristocratic deep South plantation women and Victorian "proper" modes of courtship, etc.

goddamn i would love to see how long she would maintain her sanity being stuck inside a gigantic mansion for years at a time.

Ha, I didn't make it to the racial slurs part. I only watched the first 4 minutes (the parts vamos said were funny).

By no means did I think the video was clever or anything like that. The person who made the video was obviously a bigot (claiming that all women were like the idiots in that film), and I don't agree with him by any means.

But, the sheer idiocy of the women in the video WAS humorous (in kind of a sad way, as I said before, like Reality TV). And I think Vamos was laughing at that. If vamos was siding with the creator of the video (the dude) then he is indeed sexist/ignorant.

Guest disparaissant

Yes well to be blunt, I don't like vamos much, and his posts outside of this thread show a pretty clear misogynistic streak. Hence the (unrelated) bit.

Mix his track record of idiocy in with him posting this idiotic video and yes, I am going to go throat-jumping.

Haha!

I haven't paid much attention to Vamos' other posts, but I'll take your word. Just wanted to make sure a decent guy wasn't getting bashed/misunderstood.
