I really liked the MoT EPs, found them a lot more accessible than Oversteps.

I don't see them following up Oversteps with a 6852 sounding album. That seems to much like Gescom to me (not a bad thing). A new album like Ts1a would be pretty awesome though

6852 feels more rob and ts1a feels more Sean to me

Same here but I get the opinion that it was below standards. After hearing the Laxir remixes for the first time recently, I went back and gave Chiastic Slide another listen, and I noticed that they reused tons of samples from the remixes there.

which samples are you talking about? are you sure you just arent confusing similar sounding effects, like the sampler based bit crushing they did a lot back then?

Nope, I'm quite sure. Well "tons" might be an exaggeration, but there were definitely some. I have probably listened to Chiastic Slide dozens, if not hundreds, of times and I'm quite familiar with the basic electronic music generation/processing tool set and what that all tends to sound like. I remember specifically that remix of the pop-rock band (I think they were French?) was one of the samples. It sounded like a very tight loop of some guitar feedback. The re-use might have been at the end of Pule.

If I'm feeling arsed to give Laxir another listen I'll report back with specifics.

Don't think so, I reckon some tracks here are genius but I find some other to be boring as hell and not even interesting - a feeling I quite never had to any Ae release before...

I fuckin love Move of Ten and Oversteps. It's a different style, and i can see why you might find it less developed than their earlier material. I felt kind of the same way when i first heard Untilted. It seemed simpler, more dry and less atmospheric than what came before. I remember thinking it was too emotionless. I did warm up to it and I think it's a great album, very playful, though probably my least favorite.

Regarding the recent stuff, it's kind of opposite to Untilted - all wet, no dry. I can see why you'd be against it if you don't like the reverb-heavy atmosphere they're going for, but that's kind of why I love it. I think their reverb sounds great and the level of control they have over it is fascinating to listen to. The atmosphere on Cep puiqMX is fucking crushing, beautifully heavy stuff. Different strokes I guess. Just remember that your opinion is no more valid than mine, and there is no grand consensus that MoT sucks.

[second opinion - my girlfriend loves oversteps but is not so big on move of ten. go figure]

on topic, I was not that into the Japan benefit tracks, but Skull Snap is pretty tight and I'm excited for whatever may come to us in the future.

I like Oversteps and Move of Ten.

I love the first 2 or so tracks on MoT but everything else I find forgettable, yes, even M62 (which I don't understand why people seem to love)

m62 is the most forgettable track until one day when you suddenly realize that you love it

M62 is Sean and Rob giving you a hug.
