Actress - R.I.P

I have been listening to this on and off since release, and while it's not my favorite album ever, and I kind of like both Splazsh and Hazyville better, I definitely quite like this album.

one complaint: to me, some of the sounds are seriously cheesy, and hold the album back from being as good as it could have been. *shrug*

Although I completely disagree I get how people might not like this album and might think its not cohesive but honestly do not see how you could think it sounds cheesy!? each to their own tho I guess.

I have a couple of tracks and remixes of his floating around. I heard this CD yesterday in a friends car yesterday. Its pretty damned good!

Actress is designed with utmost precision to be listened to while stoned.

I'm really really enjoying this lately. I would have hated this a few years ago but I'm in love the moment.

there are ghosts of burial and the field buried in the distance and it's very attractive to me.

its pretty good, but after a few plays i cant honestly see that it lives up to the watmm hype

brilliant musical storytelling. actress really reaches back, into the past memories and forward, to the future, processing it all through his unique filter. my favorite actress closely followed by hazyville

I'd say this album is more than a worthy follow up to Splazsh. Will definitely be getting a copy of this.

Ghettoville comes out next month too! I can't imagine him topping RIP but I still can't wait to see what he explores next. Also Hazyville comes out on vinyl next month too I think. I bought both RIP and Splashz last month, so will be nice to get my mits on Hazy and Ghetto.

WTF I forgot to buy this. Bought. Gotta chill on buying records for a while... after I get Legofeet.

I need to revisit Hazyville but R.I.P. feels like a more psychedelic style that only slightly uses reference to the previous two albums. And I swear, I think there's more than one Autechre-sampling song.

Yeah thats the thing with Actress. Whenever someone asks me how he sounds, I notice how hard it is to actually describe him. I always say something "Well it doesn't sound so exciting or new, but it does a lot of stuff with you. It's like the music or changes are on a completely different layer." Same thing with R.I.P. Though it is his record sounding the most obvious psychedelic I don't have a judgement on it even after a lot of spins and don't know how to describe it.

Where do you have the information about Ghettoville coming out next month?

Yeah, the album and the tracks included can only be enjoyed when you sit down and listen to the album as a whole. Not that it is confusing to be heard out of context, but that each track is a stepping stone to the next and without the previous there is no understanding or appreciation for the following. Truly a unique album that hasn't left me bored... in fact it is still just as mysterious as when I first heard it.

I doubt it will come out in july but below is link to where he says it will hopefully be out then. Am quite happy to wait longer anyway, as others have said am still fully digesting R.I.P. still reveals new things to me even after listening to it a shit loads of times. Top Album
