yeah, this thing is quite infectious, that very simply, short passage that's being played over and over is like a precursor to sampling, really out of the time.

Yeah agreed. Thankfully he's not in it much

Ah, I meant in the graphic novel. Didn't know he was in the show too.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

Maybe I'm just a sappy guy, but that San Junipero episode of Black Mirror was actually pretty magical.

It's definitely one of the best. Comparing the recent season to the first few seasons, it feels like the showrunners aren't trying very hard anymore. Bandersnatch was classic Black Mirror though which saves the 'year' a bit.

Perpetual Grace, LTD - new thing from the guy who did patriot, which got rightfully cancelled. it's an uninspired take on cohen bros thing but without the lols that made patriot watchable, kinda of a dreary watch witnessing all those attempts at him trying to be quirky and smart, shoving in all kinds of cool musics and stuff. ben kingsley redoes sexy beast, it's all a big meh. the thing that bugs me the most is that the whole fucking thing is all brown and yellow, it's like someone peed on the film. i really don't get why would anyone think it's an interesting artistic decision.

I’m rewatching The Haunting of Hill House.

What a show!!!

I loved it the first time around. This time, I’m picking up on a whole lot more details, such as the hidden ghosts and other tricks that are used. I wish every show was this good.

Also, first time around, I didn’t realize that in episode #6 there are basically only 5 long takes that make up the entire episode. Pretty fuggin rad.

Isn't that the episode of the funeral? I got really nervous after about forty seconds without a cutaway.

Finally started watching The Expanse as it was recommended to me over and over again by various peeps - I gotta say, enjoying it so far (9 episodes into the first season).

it's not a remake. i don't even know what to call it? a reboot? continuation? all the original characters 30 years later. except- they're playing themselves playing their acting characters. so it's like a mockumentary of them trying to make what we thought the show was going to be about. so tori spelling is more like donna martin in real life and if you're curious what happened to donna: it's basically what happened to tori. the same applies to everyone else (except supposedly austin green supposedly produced a song for jay z because david silver was the best dj in west beverly high back in the day)

if that sounds stupid and confusing, just add bad acting and dialogue from a disney straight-to-video special

finished Stranger Things season 3

I cannot think of another season of another show with such a literal dull and sluggish start that gradually picks up momentum to the point where I was genuinely wanting more at the season finale - to my own surprise actually

really hope they wrap it up with season 4, as much as they salvaged it I feel like they are stretching it already and the series needs a conclusion for it's own sake legacy wise. making a concluding movie wouldn't be a bad idea

Just finished this myself - I was very skeptical about there being a 3rd season at all but I have to say it was pretty well done. The only other season of a show that started as slow was Twin Peaks S03, but holy shit was that worth it.

I think the plan is to conclude it in series 4, since the kids will pretty much be adults by the time it airs.

Cast has been saying 4 or 5. I mean they'd be in 11th or 12th in high school in the fifth so. And the actor for Steve is in his late 20s so. It could go to 5.

kinda random, but 5 is my favorite number of seasons for a show to have.

speaking of, the new episode of the terror is really bad. it has nothing to do with the first one thematically, completely different thing, but it also has nothing to do with the first season's quality. really bad writing, acting, no atmosphere whatsoever nor terrific soundtrack, facsimile shallow dialogue. just really generic and unambitious drama/horror tv show with somewhat interesting setting (japs in us in ww2). dunno why they even bothered to shove it under the terror umbrella.
