Finally got around to seeing Breaking Bad - another series I had zero interest in until my daughter prompted me to watch it on how good it is.

And she was right - currently nearing the end of Series 3 and it's great.

I'd say watch El Camino after finishing BB, then move onto Better Call Saul.  It's a lot to remember when you go back to Jesse's story.

Watchmen, Mandalorian, Rick & Morty

All highly suggested

ep7 of Mandalorian comes out today, to avoid Friday's Rise of Skywalker release.

Amazon offers me a free month of prime every few years so I binged The Boys over the last few days.  Good show.  Butcher, Frenchie, & Homelander were my standouts.  Anyone have other show recommendations from Prime?  I started watching Ronja from Studio Ghibli, but wondering if there's any more exclusive series I should check out before my free month is up.

The Americans, Jack Ryan, The Man in the High Castle, Carnival Row, Electric Dreams, Lore, Picnic at Hanging Rock, Mr. Bean, Good Omens, Animal Kingdom, Egypt, One Strange Rock, Budding Prospects

Just finished Series 4 of The Expanse. Great series, and glad to see Amazon kept the high production values.

I'm not a Lindelof fan, but he did something really good with the Watchmen series. Heavier than expected.

Episodes 5-8 was some of the best TV this year. Basically all the origin story episodes from Looking Glass to the episode before the finale.

However the finale while alright didn't quite live up to what the show was building up. Though I'd say it was still satisfactory enough.

The final entry in the Watchmen Peteypedia reveals Agent Pete was fired after his boss discovered the web site.  Pete was also revealed to be Lube Man.

^was wondering about that

Watchmen overall was much better than i expected. i'd say it was forced and over the top and heavy-handed but that's all in line with the comic so at least they translated a lot of that tone into the show, obviously with very different subjects and means and so forth. was certainly much more enjoyable than the movie (though i do think it's okay, for the record). would be curious if there's going to be some extended cuts or something maybe, it feels like there was some more in there that got left out for time, but maybe just tight editing (not a bad thing necessarily ofc). time stuff got a little silly but nbd.

some really solid acting for the most part, King obviously was top notch but i don't think anyone did bad. everything looked really, really good and i was not expecting that. even fucking GoT looked a bit cheap here and there in those last seasons and i know good and well HBO were throwing cash at it.

finally watching Evangelion.very pretty colours.

Elfen Lied also is next I think, maybe Serial Experiments Lain

I remember thinking that the only good part of Elfen Lied was that first scene or episode with the lady with the telopathic powers and thought I was in for a really interesting show after first seeing it. But really that is the best part of the whole show, and it quickly becomes similar to one of those Harem animes.

Btw if you haven't seen Mushishi, you must. Probably the best Anime I saw in 2019 at least.

When I first saw him I knew it was Petey. I think he was the only person with that body type in the show.

Ah also anyone here think there should be a season 2? No earthly clue where they could go since the show not only wraps up itself, but also wraps up the original comic.

I do wish there was more of Looking Glass and Laurie. I feel they really didn't get much to do in the finale.... well they did an important thing though it didn't feel like it. IDK what they would do with LG but Laurie still needs to get Night Owl out of prison.

A Looking Glass centric show with a True Detective type bend could be great.

LG joins the FBI with Laurie and solves crimes with the overarching plot to get Night Owl out of prison. I'm game.

A Watchmen story set before the graphic novel would be cool. Has anyone read the Before Watchmen books? I didn't bother because Moore had nothing to do with them but I'm hungry for more now.

Much of this story was set before the graphic novel, not sure what else they could add to it from that era.

Have watched first three episodes of The Witcher. Definitely was interesting but episode 3 is definitely the 'hook' episode that makes you wanna watch the rest of the season.

It's set 34 years after the book...

am i missing something with this show? watched 4 episodes, none of it makes any sense. the continuity and story seems all messed up? is it jumping around in time? why are people who died turning up again? what the fuck is going on?

Not to be too spoilery, but this is how Doomsday Clock ended in DC:

Yeah, the timeline can be confusing for a newcomer. All I can say is that it really helps if you've read the original two (short story) Witcher books. Or played the games.

GHOST: have you killed Claudius yet
HAMLET: no
GHOST: why
HAMLET: fuck you is why
im going to the cemetery to touch skulls
