i'm such a newbie in this streaming services business... been founding lots of sites to watch shit for free... this site is a pretty good way to browse streaming services... here's a link for the free stuff...

https://reelgood.com/source/free

thanks, that's a great resource. I have a roku tv that I would usually use the search function for stuff, it had somewhat of the same function as that site.

but a lot of those free streaming places are packed with ads. some seem to be worse than others. nothing more annoying than watching the same 3-4 shortened commercials every 10-15 minutes or so. first world problem, but still.

3 episodes in and I’m hooked. Not perfect, by any stretch. I’d say pretty good, but not great. Still, very watchable. I basically feel that anything with hugh grant is worth a dive. He’s killing it in this so far.

He's really aged in this one!

It's the HD

It definitely struck me how old he’s looking. I guess we can’t hold back the hands of time. ?

How is Fargo s4 so far?

damn, didn't even know they'd wrapped production on s4, let alone started airing episodes! haven't seen any promo for it.

looks like it's not available here in the uk yet but channel 4 will get it at 'some point'

Crashing - the same happened when watching Fleabag... Hated the first episode, by the second I was lmao... Only 6 episodes though ?

Phoebe is cute af... ?

Damn, well maybe you can watch crashing when you're done with crashing. It's pretty good/funny if you like stand up things.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

Sounds good, added to watchlist... ?

Started watching the sopranos recently and holy hell has it lived up to the hype. There are some laughable bad sfx moments but the writing.... so incredible. Also the dream sequences are *chefs kiss*

I've been trying to get into Star Trek Discovery but it's a bit hard.  I'll be interested for 10-15 minutes per episode and then completely lose interest.

Tony’s Mother’s head on a double’s body goes down as the worst Sopranos FX, but they were scrambling after she unexpectedly died.

It's total garbage, I was hoping the new season might be better thanks to the jump into the future, at least they can stop fucking up the original timeline. But no, it's still garbage. The writers are just all terrible, the dialog is cringe inducing, and every moment of every episode is imbued with needless import, there's about 6 inspirational speeches per episode, everything operates at 100%, so when they need to ratchet up the tension there's nowhere left to go, and as a consequence it ends up being interminably dull. I mostly watch it while browsing twitter at this point.

What isn't total garbage though is The Queens Gambit, which is instead really good, excellent writing and top performances from everyone. Looks great too. Anya Taylor Joy is like some kind of weird sexy alien too, which is nice.

even picard was pretty bad.

watched about 30 seconds of lower decks before turning it off.

new trek kind of sucks.

Yeah it was so Jarring! I feel like the best call at that point would be to just cut her from the season? like still go through with the (spoilers) funeral, but just say she died off screen I guess?

Fear the Walking Dead: I'm pleased that this series answers questions like, why don't you just get on a fucking boat? And, why don't you just go to fucking Mexico? And also, why don't you just hold up in a bug fancy hotel? It's kinda slow moving though and is not as good as the original due to this. 7/10

First episode was quite good tho

Think I stopped end of 2nd series but I might pick it up again someday

Very slowly watching Homecoming. Story is good, acting is good. Watching it on the laptop - feels more personal than on the big screen.

Also finally started watching Dark with the missus. Intriguing so far, hoping they don’t peter out.

Shout outs to the saracens, musulmen and celestials.

Queen's Gambit got recommended to me by a couple of sources and it indeed was worth the watch.  Good paced story with good characters held up with strong performances. Taylor-Joy with well deserved accolades. Always good to see Bill Camp, although in a very limited role but playing a character that set the whole thing in motion.

the queen's gambit - 1st episode is basically karate kid with chess instead of karate and 9 year old girls tripping balls... i don't know if there's a name for suspension of disbelief but for when you suspend the fact that your an adult, but you gonna need that... it's very edgy and progressive, you got pills, feminism, pot, bisexuality, alcohol, you name it  you end up forgetting that it is in fact about chess, or is it? it's funny how she complained that in the news all they were raving about was the fact that she was a girl while irl all of us watching it are doing it for the same reason... so much for social commentary? anyway, fun watch...

Got the World at War set. I have officially become one of those people who is physically repulsed when an aspect ratio is manipulated from the original intention for viewing (some filmmakers like Kubrick shot in ways that provided flexibility but most don't).

Academy ratio is ok! If it was shot that way, leave it that way!

Finished it tonight. Story was ok. Unfortunately, I never really warmed up to the main girl. Her performance was a bit blank. It made the whole show a bit tedious because her facial expression is the same, no matter what happens. It felt like a deliberate choice but it really didn’t work for me.
