Finished S02 yesterday night. One of the very best shows I've watched the last few years, incredible grower.

And finished S03 a couple of days ago. Absolutely fantastic show.

Started Rings of Power last night. The writing is pretty bad. I thought the whole thing with Galadriel’s search party was cool and the introduction of the Harfoots was fun but jeez do they milk the fuck out of every conversation. Also, that elf leader dude is just a straight up dork.
I’ll keep watching through the eye-rolls for as long as I can. I just hope it gets on with the Sauron stuff, or at least some orc battles or something.

Pretty slow burn so far, seems like a 3-episode prologue to the actual storyline. A lot of the flashback stuff seems unnecessary, and they are redressing sets from other SW shows now to save on budget, but this show has the most location shooting, instead of relying on stagecraft, which gives the director an almost auteur level of control in shaping this show. It could be really good, the episode lengths just seem off. Nice ship designs.

Just cancelled Netflix as Better Call Saul has been done and dusted a while back. And as soon as this steaming pile of horse shit Rings Of Power is finished, guaranteed I'm gonna try pastures new. Was thinking Apple TV looks as though its got some new interesting stuff to watch (Severance, The Essex Serpent, Ted Lasso, errrr and Reese Witherspoon in The Morning Show ?) so probably head over there, see what I kind find.

That's the dude who was in Narcos Mexico. He's a very good actor imo. Interesting choice for a main lead.

This is the prequel to Rogue One, have you seen that movie?

Andor.

Agree it's a slow burn to start, the first two episodes dragged - but in the end I didn't mind it.  Gave you some time to learn about the ecosystem these characters live in, their motivations, their backgrounds.  Really laid some great groundwork.

Then EP3 came and that was really good - worth the wait.  I do get some Mandalorian vibes in how it's a real gritty form of Star Wars.  Underworld stuff, not always pleasant.

The only thing I don't really love with all of these prequels and such is that what the hell is the point if we already know what's going to happen.  There's far more interesting material to get into in the Star Wars Universe rather than just filling out the story that we already know.

Regardless, i'm on board.  Excited to see where it goes.

Morning Rubin

No I haven’t. My interest in Star Wars really crashed and burned after Return of the Jedi. Though I’ve watched some of the films out of curiosity but not watched Rogue One. I wasn’t too keen on The Force Awakens so kind of filed and shelved all the new Star Wars films under A for avoid! Just like I did with episodes 1 to 3.

Have no idea why I bothered with The Mandalorian. But glad I did because that was (surprise, surprise) ACE!

nothing. in fact, it dawned on me that this particular show might actually be the shallowest of them all (so far). unfortunately, my wife is into this kind of stuff because- that's her ilk. and you're correct. they're incredibly vapid- that is the major insecurity in disguise.

Are You The One? has entered the chat.

Just finished Bosch season 3

S1 - 5/10.   S2 - 6/10.   S3 - 7/10.

Very much looking forward to season 4. Beerwolf over and out ?

Yea agreed.  This episode kept me more interested - i did enjoy it.  But the amount of cringe scenes in this show is hard to ignore.

There's a lot of talk about game of thrones and tolkein shit in here. Are you all retarded? Do you not have any quality control mechanisms. I expect  a lot more than this from a so called idm forum...

How low are your standards? It's  bad enough with all the infantile  superhero nonsense in the film thread.

Jesus.

Watmm is a blessing. It’s the only place on occasions I can fully abandon my quality control mechanisms and feel free.  Even my close friends I have to keep some sort of lid on it.

Hammer the galvanised nail into your japs eye!!!

One day I’ll tell you about this dude I use to know who use to drink his own piss (and others) from a bucket he kept in his bedroom. Have gay sex with a bloke called The Pie Man. And use to suck off his uncle while wearing a orc mask ?

You think I’m joking? It’s real. Okay the orc mask isn’t true (it wasn’t his uncle  IT WAS ME!!!)  but the rest is. He knew the best coke dealer in town. Mad times. Mad orcs.

Truth. I find myself rolling my eyes and yelling at the tv more than I remember ever doing with a show before. For some reason I still can’t peel myself away tho. It’s basically like watching a billion dollar train wreck in slow motion.

What is probably keeping me interested is the curiosity of how far off they can go from Tolkien canon while still trying to make sense of their “story”… which, along with the characters, is complete nonsense.

Dahmer_netflix_series.jpg

ryan murphy doesn't understand horror. he understands kitsch. dahmer's story is incredibly difficult to translate because his obsession to cannibalize his victims was actually brought on by a deep fear of being alone. this plays more like ed kemper's story with a mother complex gone array.

westworld s01 - not perfect but damn cool...

westworld s02 - also pretty cool ideas specially the cr4dl and the forge... they could have found a better way to express graphically the hosts passage into the forge though... it looked pretty silly how they did it... and a lot of filler specially the samurai episodes...

westworld s03 - Hot Terminator & Jesse Pinkman fight against that "free will destroyer" cristal ball from Devs with the intent of bringing down the apocalypse on human civilization...

"Science! Bitch!" in Pinkman's voice...

when Caleb's trip wears off:

  • what genre is this?
  • it's reality man...

lmao

and why the fuck MIB's hand is still in that shape? they can build droids from scratch and he can't get a new hand? a fucking hand? even Luke Skywalker got a brand new one... geeeeezz louise...

what about when Nostradamus starts sending phone messages to everyone revealing their destinies? next time use spoiler tags ffs dude???‍♂️

the EMP kills the droids and Solomon but it doesn't destroy Caleb's flash drive? right...

this season was a trainwreck... it seemed like it was written by a 12 years old... the dialogues were so childish and silly, wtf...

not getting my hopes up to s04 but gonna start watching it anyway...
