What TV series are you watching at moment?

Started rewatching The Wire on the plane yesterday. First time I saw it was maybe 15 years ago. It really does not get any better than this show. The writing is beyond top notch. Everything else about it is, too. It’s really impressive how, while there are some familiar cop show tropes, it sidesteps cliche at every turn. Clearly, David Simon’s real life experience was deeply informative but translating that kind of experience to the screen so masterfully is very rare.
If you haven’t seen it, stop whatever you’re doing and change that. 
 

unexpectedly fun… surprisingly good... watched the english version cause this connection at sea is shitty af and the english pack size for download was way smaller… it's not a dub btw, there's really 2 versions of this, english and japanese… kudos to the english voice cast, they did a great job! will watch again back at home in decent quality and bigger screen… wasn't too keen on the animation style at the beginning but it works really well after all…

already watched the series and the movie and this new sequel is definitely up there with the formers… really fun approach at the time travel concept… one of the bestest animation style imo afaik acaba tldr that could only come out of the one and only Masaaki Yuasa’s studio Science Saru… highly recommended…

I felt like barfing on every character's face by the last 2 eps... so much potencial in the first episodes and such a steep downhill into a pile of crap... cooper in the last episode said the same shit inside that cage for about 10 times... Lucy pls Lucy pls Lucy pls until he lost his marbles... cringy af... was it Lucy? can't even bother to go and check it...

Does 3 Body Problem get any better? I'm 2 episodes in and strongly dislike most of what I've seen so far.

I think it improves but if you already strongly dislike it, why put yourself through it?

Made it to the end of Fallout, the vault dwellers were by far the most interesting storyline.

People say it's good hard sci fi, and I don't want to miss out. I can tell there's maybe 5% of something interesting hidden in there, but I just can't get with the silly alien(?) virtual reality adventure games, floating countdowns+++ It's giving me rancid Cloud Atlas meets Devs vibes. Yeah, reading this back I'm definitely done with it. Thanks!

Edit 2: Good news, everyone! I stuck with it and it got better. 

just finished rewatching this… main character is a bit despiteful and has few to none background and you keep wonder why… it all makes sense by the last eps but in the meantime it's quite unnerving… animation is very good and original but I kept craving for more… the end is very emotional no doubt about that… all the technicalities of the game are quite interesting but it gets a bit repetitive and the same goes for all the inner thought monologues of most characters… it hurts to say but I wouldn't give it more than a 7/10 and I think I'm being a bit generous, it's mostly because of the end and the message behind it...

Scavengers Reign is available on Netflix now. Sounds like MAX is apparently cancelling all animated series so unless it did well on Netflix it’s pretty much RIP. It’s not top 10 so I’m assuming the most fleshed out and imaginative alien world is being laid to rest right now. Fuck. If you’ve already seen it it’s probably worth rewatching and liking to try to breathe some life into it.

Still not available to watch or buy legally anywhere in the nordic countries as far as I'm aware. Which sucks, because I really want to support this show, it's the best thing I've seen in forever. I'll save my rewatch for whenever it's actually possible to watch it and support the makers.

Seems like Star Trek with lightsabers so far, smaller fake looking sets, fake looking aliens, maybe it gets better but I read it will only be one season, so ymmv.

idk how you all have so much time to sink into garbage tv shows. I guess I prefer to waste that time on vidya instead.

'Evil' season 4 started.  it's too much fun not to watch and katja herbers is someone i can watch in just about anything and this show fits her perfectly. cast is great really.  season 1 was OK but it moved to streaming for seasons that came after and it got way more fun then. language, horniness, grossness etc.. it's kind of like X-files but w/3 people and centered around catholic church, psychology, goofy possessions and weird situations.. big satanic conspiracy. i LOL every time i watch it. it's well put together. pretty good writing. and did i mention katja herbers? 

I'm still to finish season 3, but I love that goofy show as well. There's just something about it I can't resist.

From the brilliant mind of Masaaki Yuasa, Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na! is a love letter to animation, wildly creative in its approach, and a testament to the potential of the medium… basically an anime show made for animation geeks…

3 girls, an introverted set designer who ends up being a director, one amateur model who wants to be character designer and one cynical producer who sees an opportunity for profit everywhere start an anime club… great character study, lots of comic relief and a extremely original storytelling makes this one of my favorite anime shows…

might seem pretty childish and naive at the beginning but as soon as it fires up it's truly fantastic…

Science Saru stamp is all over it…

Highly recommend it for anime fans (as they call it in western countries) or simply animation (as they call it in Japan)... trying to avoid gatekeeper's terms cause I don't wanna go trough all that anime or not discussion again… I'm european so I call it anime…

Watch this fucking show ASAP if your into anime... or even if you like Tom & Jerry...

The green lady seems to be some kind of important character but I’ve only read one of the High Republic mangas, and a few episodes of that kiddie cartoon on Disney+ which had Yoda in it immediately, who knows if we’ll see him in this series.

Star Wars has always been pretty silly. 

Currently watching Very Scary People (hosted by Donnie “Hangin’ Tough” Wahlberg). Pretty formulaic true crime series profiling history’s most notorious murderers with brief introductions from my main man Donnie D. The series is cheesy at times but overall fairly well put together. My main gripe was that Donnie’s studio set in the first 8 episodes or so looked like a fun fair haunted house. 

It was also dreadfully over-lit and shot with a not so great camera/lens in deep focus, in order to accommodate the camera whooshing in to Donnie as he emerges from a corner and proceeds to walk & talk. The whole thing felt very cheap. 

For the last few episodes I’ve seen, they must have gotten a similar note that it wasn’t working and they replaced the set/lighting and are now shooting with a shallower depth of field.

Major improvement. 

The show features lots of interviews with victim’s families, law enforcement, various exports etc. Regular contributor, criminologist Casey Jordan is a bit over the top… and always wearing red. 

The boys is such garbage now, a void plot interweaved with shock value wtf scenes.

Ill still watch it tho lol
