RM-Sounds - Sidechain Compression With Ableton's Returns

Recommended Posts

Hey, I've uploaded a new video tutorial to my youtube channel that may help some of you with your mixing. It discussing sidechain compression and an effective way to apply it to a bunch of tracks at once, for example pumping everything under your kick drum which is the most common example.

Hope you enjoy and, as always, comment & subscribe!

Was already familiar with the concepts, but I enjoyed the video. Might want to mention that a good thing to do while doing Ableton tutorials is throw a spectrum on your tracks so people can see what its doing to the sound.

Also would have been nice to see some suggestions for attack/delay/ratio's for different sort of situations.

Thanks man, good ideas too, might try the spectrum thing next time its applicable. I didn't want to get too much into the concept of sidechain compression as much as just talking about the way i route it in Live. I try to stay away from the bread and butter "Compression 101" type tutorials cause there's just sooooo much out there already ya know?
