so this list just becomes another version of this

it's not a good musicians fault if no one from watmm has read about it on pitchfork or boomkat, you should include albums that were only mentioned once.

So we should add all these albums to the poll then, so the same one person that nominated it can then vote for it?? There's no doubt a shit ton of great music that got out this past year and got criminally overlooked or for one of a billion and one reasons never made it to another watmm ear. I had just thought that shortlisting on the basis that at least more than 1 watmmer had heard/liked an album seemed reasonable. People don't come to watmm to not talk about their favorite musics, no?

Let's also bear in mind that it's just a fun idm fanboard popularity contest that doesn't mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of things but may introduce ppl to artists they may have otherwise missed before.

Aphex Twin - digitally enhanced volume 1: Aphex Twin plays legends of idm

rarney bubble - mega glue stick

Aphex Twin - universal indicator 6

I would add stuff but this is watmm, and Tim Hecker is going to win.

I don't want no part of that.

NOT IN MY NAME!

Yup-

Lego Feet - SKA001CD

2562 - Fever

Fear Ratio - Light Box

My contributions-

Jürgen Müller - Science of the Sea

Quiet Evenings - Intrepid Trips

Dadavistic Orchestra - Dokument .02

A Winged Victory For the Sullen

Corrections-

VHS Head - Midnight Section, sadly, not an album. Let's start and Singles/EPs best off thread.

there's no difference between Dave Monolith - Welcome and Monolith - Welcome, so the top post should just remove the latter.

Please add Colin Stetson -- New History Warfare Vol. 2 : Judges

I mentioned this just now in the other thread, but I'm gonna go ahead and mention it here.

Very little of this is WATMM related (ie a bit of doom and prog), but this is sort of my 2011 list so far:

Electric Wizard - Black Masses

Coh - IIron

Blood Ceremony - Living with the Ancients

Ford & Lopatin - Channel Pressure

Mondkopf - Rising Doom

Justice - Audio Video Disco

Even though i like the Electric Wizard and Blood Ceremonies the best so far, I think the Coh album deserves a bit of love. Probably the most interesting thing I've heard this year, awesome to listen to on a long train ride.

Added:

Justice - Audio Video Disco

Jürgen Müller - Science of the Sea

The Fear Ratio - Lightbox

Removed VHS Head and the duplicate Monolith

We're up to around 63 nominees now; if anyone feels strongly about adding the whole lot of the 150 or so that have only a single mention I'll go along with it, though I still don't see the point of a poll with 200+ choices if most are only going to receive 1 vote, that being from the same person that nominated it.

Also noticed that PJ Harvey got multiple mentions so added that too. If I missed any others let me know.

Alright, here it goes, this excludes a lot of LPs I know are great and vouched for on WATMM, but I didn't properly listen to (Apparat, Jürgen Müller, the Kirby and Roly Porter albums), and therefore not on my list.

1. M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming

2. James Blake - James Blake

3. Elite Gymnastics - Ruin

4. Machinedrum - Room(s)

5. Clams Casino - Instrumentals

6. Sepalcure - Sepalcure

7. Oneohtrix Point Never - Replica

8. Rustie - Swords

9. 2562 - Fever

10. Kode9 and Spaceape - Black Sun

11. Africa Hitech - 93 Million Miles

12. Andy Stott - Passed Me By

13. Kuedo – Severant

14. Matthewdavid - Outmind

15. Zomby - Dedication

16. Modeselektor - Monkeytown

17. Shabazz Palaces - Black Up

18. FaltyDL – You Stand Uncertain

19. Chrissy Murderbot - Women's Studies

20. Space Dimension Controller – The Pathway To Tiraquon6

21. Instra:Mental - Resolution 653

22. Radiohead - TKOL RMX 1234567

23. Panda Bear - Tomboy

24. Martyn - Ghost People

25. Tim Hecker - Ravedeath, 1972

26. Ford & Lopatin - Channel Pressure

27. Com Truise - Galactic Melt

28. Plaid - Scintilli

29. Youth Lagoon - The Year of Hibernation

30. SBTRKT - SBTRKT

Notable mentions:

Pop stuff I liked - Drake, Cage The Elephant, Cults, tuneyards (kinda indie but whatever) Florence and The Machine, Bon Iver. I also didn't mind the singles by Foster the People, but damn do they sound terrible live…

Washed Out - Life of Leisure

Weeknd...good but way overhyped

Neon Indian - Era Extraña A shitload better than his first LP, which was overrated overhyped lofi garbage imo

Only metal I listened to a lot of (and saw live) was Wolves In The Throne Room - Celestial Lineage

Two awesome and gimmicky footwork releases (besides the ones made by WATMMers)…

Phillip D. Kick - Footwork Jungle Vol. 1-4

Patrice & Friends - Cashmere Sheets

we had this thread too before mcgriff's : http://forum.watmm.c...page__hl__earth

Yeah that's probably good to look over for reminders and other suggestions. I'm under the impression this one is an actual "poll" ...right?

Edited by joshuatxuk

Yeah, just to be clear, the porpoise of this thread is to cull nominations for inclusion in a near-future watmm "Top Albums of 2011" poll. I think most of your selections are already on the list in the first post, but if there are any to add lemme know. I seem to recall that James Blake, Panda Bear, Sepalcure and Com Truise have already been mentioned, in which case I'll add them.
