707 sounds totally different, 606 and 707 aren't interchangeable, in my opinion

aren't interchangeable? i'm not sure anyone can arrive at them being interchangeable by doing an a/b test of just the bass drums and snares alone.

each machine has its own faults and limitations, but i'll take the 606 over the 707 anyday. something about the thudding of the 707 bass drum just sounds awful, with a fairly uninspired snare as well.

if you make a track with a 606, and then replace it by a 707 it'll have a completely different feel. Maybe not that much if you use an 808 instead. That's why I said that you can't really swap them and get the same feel, they are too different. Comparing a 606 to an 808 makes more sense in my opinion.

I like a 707 when it's being used in old chicago house tracks and UR etc.

Has anyone made black metal with a 606? I'd love to hear blast beats made with one.
