Fred McGriff's Top 5 Foodstuffs to Spend Extra Money On

couple of things I thought of:

- limes. Always good to have on hand, I find when I get sloppy I start substituting lemons for limes, and that never works. In fact I suggest the opposite, if a salad dressing calls for lemon juice add lime instead, and hell maybe even some lime zest for good measure. Oh that's another one, never use bottled lemon or lime juice, yikes!

- fresh pasta. If you can afford it, much better than the dried variety

- if you're doing asian food, get a good aromatic vinegar, rather than just garden variety vinegar. Same thing probably applies to soy sauce. As with any sauce, getting the right kind is really important.

I have family in Parma, Italy so every few years when my family goes on a trip to Italy we make sure to bring back a whole bagfull of Parmesean cheese wedges.

trust me if it's a food/cheese thread, no LTMer is posting it in LTM where brother baph can't wax inside it.

i shop at a local amish farm and they have the best horseradish mustard I've ever had. It's addictive in both heat & tang. Great eggs as well.
