I'm hardly a closed minded nun. Remember, I'm on a fucking IDM forum.... an IDM forum.. Think about that for a second before claiming people are closed minded nuns.

Notably that Dancing Bug is far better than most of the footwork I've otherwise heard. I would dance to it and be interested.

But personally I believe Footwork/Juke/Juootwork/Foke is currently suffering from Throbbing Gristle syndrome, in that the first people to do something are kinda shit at it if it's a substantial break from what's gone before. I am really liking what actual proficient producers are doing with it. Machinedrum and Africa HiTech's takes are very fresh and give me that reaction of "what, this is shit" which changes to "actually this isn't shit" after a few listens; whereas the initial producers like Nate and Rashad, while they actually did the innovation (or brought it into light from Mike, whichever) and so have brought an interesting style overground, simply aren't very good at making music yet.

It's not shit because it's Juke. It's shit because they're stoned 18 year old Fruityloops producers. There's something in it to be brought to light.

you can't compare rashad to nate man

ditto, I get what you're saying though, although I actually listen to Nate with enthusiasm the, I dunno, "second wave" juke and footwork is better, the template itself is the novelty

Well all I was saying is that Rashad is way better than Nate. Nate's grabbed a few hot samples, but Rashad knows how to put a proper track together at least. Speakin of Nate, where's he been? I'm wondering if he's progressed any in the past 2 years. I'd like to see what he's working on.
