Quentin Tarantino - Django Unchained

weird interview

i really don't blame him for getting upset at it, honestly. that interviewer was out for confrontation and when he was called on it continued to passive-aggressively snipe QT about it.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that Tarantino came across as a prima donna, but the interviewer really wouldn't have been prodding him like that if the interview was a year ago or 6 months from now. Insinuating that QT flicks are somewhat responsible for violent tragedies, get real.

Just wanted to point out this isn't the first time he's done this in his films though, 2 different actors played different roles in Kill Bill as well.

I will say I thought Django was a bit more style than substance but I still thought it was enjoyable. However now as I think about it I wonder if I enjoyed this one just because in contrast to Basterds it was infinitely better (I suppose I'll know for sure upon a second viewing eventually). I do kinda wish Quentin would go back to modern crime flicks, instead of this pseudo-history exploitation thing.

I can see the NRA just salivating that oppurtunity to lynch the movie industry for recent shootings.

I don't think he overreacted. The interviewer was being kind of a dick, and wouldn't take no for an answer even though Tarantino gave his reasons. Definitely could have been handled better, though.

Was just watching Christoph Waltz' acceptance speech for his Basterd's oscar, a subsequent interview with him on 60 mins, and an interview with Tarantino about finding him, the good vibes given from both sides re: the serendipitous find of Waltz to play the key role were truly heart warming. I really like how Tarantino makes an effort to find "unknowns" or has-beens and re-vitalize their careers, it doesn't seem gimmicky to me at all, it's clear that whatever else he may have lost in terms of craft or subtlety, he really knows how to find and nurture great actors.

Oh also, I've heard Tarantino may have a foot fetish - but is he gay? Of course it doesn't matter but it is an intriguing question. He seems pretty flamboyant, but he's also got that strange obsession with tough guys and violence that doesn't seem very homo.

I don't know/don't care about his sexual inclinations but that QT's love (whether aesthetic or physical, I don't know) of Hollywood Blonde Actress Feet, in particular, is more or less an established fact.

i've always wondered this. in deathproof he came across as extremely gay, but...i actually think he's just a weird, outspoken guy. i like him because he seems completely unphased by his own fame. i can see a video store clerk who is slightly autistic every time i watch an interview with him and that's quite charming. tarantino seems very much of the film industry but weirdly outside of its influence and i have to commend him on that.

the only time i've seen him reference his foot fetish in a movie overtly was the opening shots to Death Proof.

yep. always pegged him as an eccentric personality and left it at that.

i get more of a bi-curious vibe from him, there have been pretty strong rumors in hollywood though about Foxx being a down-low brother

You're forgetting the ten minutes of Uma wiggling her big toe in Kill Bill.

there are numerous female foot shots in almost all of his movies. just keep that in the back of your head next time you watch Pulp Fiction.

I had heard he smokes weed (and smokes it with Paul Thomas Anderson) but I was interested to read online that he's also been known for using ecstasy. Wouldn't necessarily have pegged him as an x user.

If any of you guys want a laugh, check out one of the youtube vids of him being interviewed by a black youtube channel (there are several of them). He hugs and fist bumps and speaks in borderline ebonics to a near-embarrassing degree, although his sheer bubbly joy at "hanging with the brothas" makes it hard to judge him too harshly. Still, kinda funny how much he changes when being interviewed by a black guy.
