It took a friend of mine a full year to save up $1000 to pay what his loans/grants/whatever wouldn't pay for his school this year, and I've saved $500 in three months working 30 hours a week. It is certainly nice paying a small amount for rent which includes utilities and groceries, laundry, etc...
