Eh?

referring to the homebase of the band Sacramento CA which is like a pretty smallish city in California... -- The crazy thing about this, is that i had kept reading about them recently but have not heard any of their stuff, only the titles of their songs etc, and when i read "The Money Store" i flashed back to this mid 90's tv commercials out of sacramento for a place called The Money Store, and i had bit of a laugh.. then just today i read about this thing going on this weekend called Sacramento Electronic Music Festival and see their names on the performers list and think, nah,, could they be....? and now checking out wtttm i finally find out the factual fact of their location.. 54877929.jpg1120885880_8349f79335_z.jpg

that is the Money Store Building....

dude what the fuck

Might be the label forcing them to release another album so damn fast. Or maybe something else. Seriously, what the fuck?

Bad news, Death Grips have cancelled all future tour dates. Seriously not happy about this, the one gig I plan to go to in ages and it gets cancelled.

Yup, I was gutted when I heard the news (I was seeing them opening at ATP london), but on the positive side they are so fucking good that an opening slot isn't worthy of them, they will surely finish this album and then do their own headlining tour, and the speed they work it shouldn't be too long to wait. And I will be there. With bells on.

They just want to concentrate on finishing the new album. That actually sounds like a wise move to me.

I wouldn't be surprised if they agreed to make two albums this year and are now like "oh, shit, should've thought about that one".

i've decided that this album makes my ears get tired even more quickly than clark at his compressiest.

no, i mean that the clippiness and the volume and the lack of dynamics just make my ears ache for some fucking eno or something about halfway through.

Okay... so I was going to see them in Cambridge tonight and it gets postponed. What the actual fuck is his band's deal?

Apparently construction at the new venue, The Sinclair...

So they wait until 5 hours before the show to give a heads up? The venue is being lame in this case.

For people that aren't too keen on how compressed this record is, there are FLACs of the unmastered record floating about they leaked not too long ago. I'd seriously try finding them as the record sounds a million times better than the final master (some tracks actually have dynamics, the bass that was left out gets restored and it's not brickwalled to shit).

EDIT: Thought I'd compare two waveforms of Get Got as an example and see how much difference there really was between the two versions. The above is the unmastered, the below is what appeared on the CD...

I did always think that TMS had a bit of a strange, overproduced sound. Kind of like everything mashed together too much. It worked a bit though; made it sound more ambiguous and dream-like in a way, but it took away from the heavy-ness of it.

It's my go-to album to blast in the car and it sounds ridiculously awesome.

oh hell yeah death grips is awesome for driving

Rifts is better for night drives though.

I'd admit my intial burst of enthusiasim for this album fizzled out pretty fast. It doesn't do much for me at this moment in time. A lot of it grates.
