Laugh all you want but I'm enjoying pristine original print films on a yearly basis. I've seen 5 in the past 2 and half years.

Sort of off topic but when I watch blu ray, there's something about it that looks a bit off. almost like its trying too hard to look real but it almost looks laggy in a way. I've only seen blu ray off of my friends old blu ray player so maybe the playing itself is slightly broken...

could be the refresh rate of the television too. there's some sort of auto-smoothing frame blending on the tv i just got, and had to turn it off. 24fps or death

Yeah, per KY, sounds like some BS "natural motion" 120 HZ thing, which you need to turn off on the TV end. That or an out of spec HDMI cable.

Yeah, it's probably that "Motion Flow" effect Samsung TVs seem to love to set on by default, and is difficult to turn off. You'll only see this on LCD TVs with a refresh rate of 120Hz or higher. Makes everything look like it was shot on videotape...

Hey, Yikes would like that! :emotawesomepm9:

I'm curious what the point of 120hz refresh rates are to be totally honest

It allows for smoother motion (which is why LCD TVs with 120hz refresh rates or higher usually have the "motion flow" option), which reduces ghosting and blurring on fast-moving objects. This is beneficial while watching sports, or playing video games. For movies that are filmed @24fps, when this motion flow effect is applied, it gives the images a eerie, almost home-videotaped look.

Thanks for the answer I was looking for! I knew films are at 24fps (or 23.976), but considering television is at 30fps (or 29.97), it still didn't make much sense why crazy-high refresh rates were wholly necessary. Considering I don't watch sports or play video games, I would not have figured this out on my own :cisfor:

I download stuff. Has seemed to be the right thing to do for a while now. Rather than hoarding pointless stuff that you know is going to be obsolete in 7 years from it's entry into the market anyway.
