the fake i sent you jules is totally shitty compared to this masterpiece.

That being said it is still pretty good.

Damn Centipede Hz and its addictive nature.

Can't wait for the cd and the dvd extras.

Yay! :emotawesomepm9::emotawesomepm9::emotawesomepm9::emotawesomepm9::emotawesomepm9::emotawesomepm9::emotawesomepm9:

even through i was hoping for more mellow oddsac type sounds, i couldn't be more satisfied with this record. good vibes and happy feeling all the way through. deakins track is amazing; really like his vocals.(cant think of any other song with him on lead vocals besides country report from the keeps cassete. know of any others watmm?) new town burnout into monkey riches is my favorite bit off the album and is simply orgasmic the way they bleed into each other. :music:

'Every time I look up at that blurry sun, All I think about are bodies floating up' anyone else of think of mircleman 22 when they heard this?30lgiyt.jpg

I did what I usually avoid and that's burn myself out on a low quality leak, or their stream in this case. no idea why they would do that and not release the digital files.

but anyway after a bit with the album I'm finding it much too samey in the drum area. panda needs to sing more. definitely would have benefitted from less noise in a lot of the tracks too. I thought they were going for a live album sound/feel and this is pretty much 180 degrees from that.

this dies however contain some of my favorite things they've done yet. most notably, new town burnout and amanita. for now I am done until the cd arrives.

This is actually exactly like a gig from them I saw like two years ago. I didn't like it and I don't like the majority of the tracks on this LP. There are two, three solid tracks on there, but I really prefer the earlier stuff. These guys are getting more annoying and more complanate with every release .

This is one of those bands that I fail too see what the fuss is about. I bought their last 'masterpiece' Merriweather Pavillion (?) and have played it maybe 50 times. All I ever have liked on it was My Girls and Summertime Clothes which are rather mindblowing!! lol Which leads me too think that there are other similar gems hidden in their back catalogue, but I can't be arsed to do the trawling. I hasten to add I have been meaning to start a thread up about this but can't be arsed to do that either lol.

I would hardly call Merriweather Post Pavilion their masterpiece. It's simply the poppiest and most trendy album.

I think a period where they excelled in songwriting and sound spans three albums: Sung Tongs, Feels, and Strawberry Jam. I think the music here best represents what makes this group stand out.

Here Comes the Indian is great if you want a journey. Very noisy and unstructured and BIG. Not the most well-constructed but probably my favorite.

I'm not exactly excited by the new one, but I will check it out; I'm certain a friend of mine will get the 2xLP. The single sounds like they are reflecting on the structure of their older material. It feels unfocused to me, not because it's chaotic, just incomplete. But I suppose I should reserve my judgment for it's context in the album.

Okay maybe it's not their masterpiece but every critic in the developed world seemed to be stroking a massive big boner to it.

Hence it was shit.

I dunno. Merriweather post pavillion for me flows in a wonderful way, the variety of sound, the melodies, the lyrics, it is all effects me in a powerful way. The album is really good for attentive listening, but I have to say it sounds absolutely terrible on most sound systems, it needs to be played on good headphones or loud, well-eq'd systems.

got the cd and dvd today. Some cool live performances, four to be exact - New Town Burnout>Monkey Riches>Brothersport>Mercury Man. Great live video effects on the footage.

Can't wait to jam it in the car!

YAY! :emotawesomepm9::emotawesomepm9::emotawesomepm9::emotawesomepm9::emotawesomepm9::emotawesomepm9::emotawesomepm9:

I think mercury man is the only one I don't like. pulleys is a huge grower. so many sick songs. the first track is just fucking insanely awesome.

I'm with you pigster. pandas two songs are definite stand outs as us amanita, the rest could all be the same song. the drums are almost identical in every song too.

I like the songs individually more than as a whole

haha. i am still enjoying it but that review is kind of spot on. i totally disagree with the two panda songs being lowpoints, i think they are my two favs. the way new town burnout is is very different from tomboy. i think that may be my favorite track. it keeps switching from moonjoc, ntb, rosie oh and amanita. the record is very samey though and it is quite an exhausting listen.

You're right that it can be quite exhausting, so much going on at times, very little space. Got the Deluxe Vinyl version today, beautiful pressing, comes with MP3 downloads and a live DVD.

Can't wait to see them in Manchester later this year. :music:

i've heard that the ripped audio from the live dvd is kicking around somewhere but i haven't found it...

also, there is a hidden track on the dvd. if you press next chapter on the last song (mercury man maybe?) it goes to a chz radio hidden track with snippets of all samples from the album.

i also think it's better than mpp in the long run, and will improve with further listening, (relatively) poppy albums like mpp don't hold the interest for too long, you just figure them out very quick.

for now i get kinda lost in the father time-mercury man stretch, the other parts are great.
