Aye, that is a pretty salty price, but I might have to suck it up, even if getting the CD version would be cheaper. I have most of their stuff on vinyl already. Samples sounded nice.

I'm not normally one to complain about the price of things (a few recent releases excepted) but even I'm thinking twice about the vinyl edition now - £39.99 is pretty steep. And literally as I typed that, I remembered that I forked out £34.99 for that Demdike Stare 'Elemental' double-pack so perhaps I should just suck it up too. :emb:

Nah tis bull, there's no reason why it should be 40 squid. Black Dog's Music For Real Airports was a 3 LP-er and pressed on 180g vinyl and if I remember correctly I paid under 30 pounds for it including p&p

Edit- Ok it's 3 X 160g 12″ inc. additional CD. It might be worth it, bit too steep for me though, and I'm a rarities whore. And is the Cd just the digital copy of what's on the vinyl ?

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Yeah, the CD is the same as the vinyl. I hope that becomes more common, or a voucher for a lossless download.

The CD contains basically the same stuff, but it's presented as one long track. I'm not quite sure why - all that does is make it inconvenient, but there it is.

if its mixed together it would make sense, rather than just leaving them to play one after another. planetary assualt systems did that with his last album, mixed the whole album as a dj set and put it on cd, it worked well.

Usually stuff like that has CUE points though so you can skip to the various sections. Actually thinking about it tracks on Liumin were mixed together too but had separate their own track points on the CD.

In regards to the comment about echospace/deepchord being BC/CR-ripoffs, most of the stuff released has been archived stuff from the 90s so pretty much contemporary with BC/CR stuff. Same with Rod Modell's Global Systems Silently moving project was apparently recorded in 1996 making it contemporary with Voigt's Gas project, both being very similar to each other.

That's a bit of a coincidence isn't it? That they just so happened to be recording very similar sounding music to two of the most influential musicians in electronic music, at the same time as them, but they're only releasing them now.

the 71 minute mix is blowing my mind atm.

I have to agree. As time passes it becomes more and more apparent that Modell and Hitchell's talents are magnified in these continuous, album-length works.

There were bits and pieces of 'Liumin' that I really loved, but I was never quite on board for the whole album. This (and indeed the 3xLP version, which is actually a radically different listening experience to the CD) is absolutely stunning. Addictive even.

not all that surprised that mr.modell would venture to the visual realm, a lot of the album art he's responsible for is beautiful

Got this today and it indeed is very good. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is. It has the Liumin feel but is a far more subdued affair. Brilliant. I think I like this more than Liumin.

Anyone else got the jitter/glitch noise at 50:24 on the CD release ? An easy fix when I rip it to my 'puter, just curious ...
