Seems like a bit of a stretch but pretty interesting tho

from http://www.escapistm...-No-Half-Life-3

  • A series of Cyrillic symbols (СПУТНИК НАБЛЮДЕНИЯ <<ЛАНТАНУМ>>) can be seen above Wheatley. Translated, the message reads: Observation Satellite "Lanthanum". Lanthanum is a periodic element in Group 3.
  • Translated to Greek, "Lanthanum" reads λανθανω. Note the lambda symbol, a gaming icon that screams Half-Life.
  • Numerous constellations can be drawn in the stars behind Wheatley, all forming lambda symbols.
  • Wheatley finishes his speech by attempting to give coordinates of his location in space. He only has time to say "1, 1, 1″ before being cut off. 1 + 1 + 1 = 3
  • The atomic number of Lanthanum is 57. 5 and 7 are the starting and ending dates in July for next years E3. 5 + 7 = 12. 6/5/12 - 6/7/12.

HA! People also managed to get other dates out of that and none of them have been led to HL3 nor Episode 3.

Yea I know... dinosaur of an article compared to most regarding HL3, but the numbers are still applicable.

So far, Nintendo seems to have gotten their act together, but I can't help but feel the Wii U is an expensive HD upgrade to the Wii, as a lot of the games have the same "gimmicky" feel as the Wii games did.

Third party support (so far) is pretty anemic and no major third-party new IP has been announced (yet). Until that changes, Nintendo, no matter how innovative their first-party titles are, will still languish.

Considering the likelyhood of Microsoft and Sony showing off their new consoles next year (probably at E3), the Wii U is going to have about a year or so of relevance before the new consoles blow it out of the water tech-wise, and there's no reason Microsoft or Sony can't emulate the features of the Wii U Pad like they did with Kinect and Playstation Move, and do it better.

Ok, so... ehm... that was kinda dull.

I do like the idea of the WiiU and controlling my inventory using a secondary screen but that's a lot of money for inventory control.

Not to mention the hardware doesn't seem to be offering anything beyond the current console generation. Certainly not enough wow to get the users to budge from their ps3s and xboxs.

So it's business as usual for nintendo then.

As to content, they rekon that they are still to release more info through the fortnight? Remains to be seen. Game trailers panel seems underwhelmed, even their 'nintendo fan' was cold over it.

yeah, the rumoured MSRP (in Japanese Yen) is 30000, which is about 380USD. By the time the Wii U comes out this fall/Christmas, Sony and Nintendo could offer their consoles at half that cost or less.

Mario in HD was nice, but not as innovative as say Mario 64 was. Pikmin 3 was neat, but again, just an HD facelift of the existing concept.

No Animal Crossing, no Zelda, no Super Smash Bros (especially in lieu of Sony's shameless SSB ripoff game last night) - considering how much Nintendo relies on their franchises, you'd think they'd roll out the mainstays...
