so I assume that no-one actually has the beta of this yet?

they do it on their own now:

great idea. just pretend you started the beta testing without sending out the beta to the people you invited. by this it becomes way more elitist.

I'm guessing not - it's not changing publishers & development staff, it's not needing to be rewritten from scratch with every leap in tech, and it's not going to blow the budget on asset creation. Apples and Oranges innit.

I bet they did send out to beta testers, but probably just a tiny subset of those who signed up. I would bet they made them all sign NDAs too.

I bet they didn't. Not one post about "I have the beta" on their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/bitwig

Everybody is just asking. I did not find one person who talks about his beta experience.

Which could back up slightlydrybeans' suggestion of them having signed NDAs

A simple "I have the beta" is not breaking an NDA.

Someone on KVR talked about the beta. Said he wished he could detach the sequencer or something like that. Cant be arsed to look it up.

An NDA can be made to include any level of silence, including a restriction on talking about it online, which would cover saying "I've got the beta" on a forum. I'd bet it's people they know personally, as to have good contact with them. They won't just send it out to a bunch of randos who may or may not even respond with feedback.

if you talk on forums about it: who knows your real name?

lol @ the guy at KVR who doesn't care about his beta as he just got the live update. this will become a serious problem if they take even longer.

you mean the live beta update that ONLY lets you use 64-bit VST's?

Bitwig Studio is in a rawer state than we were expecting, even for a beta version, and there's still clearly a long way to go in terms of features, stability and performance

lol so this is why nobody has the beta. its not a beta yet

I don't think its nothing new to have a beta that is missing features, just look at the way Blizz does betas.

Its too bad vsts/au's, per clip automation, and hybrid tracks don't work yet. Everyone is giving Ableton a hard time that they only support 64 bit plugins in the latest beta, can't say the same for Bitwig.

:cisfor:

Ableton did nothing but make their beta 64 bit compatible and make it so that you can only use 64 bit VST's on their product that is over 2 years on the shelf. Granted, it is the beta of the program, but IMO, that is not the same as bitwig not having vst/au ect. on their brand new program beta that they seem to have only given out to the chosen few.

Have some patience, folks.

Also any hint of a price - If it's < £100 I'll definitely pick it up.

That price seems unlikely, it doesn't look like budget software at all. I would expect twice that at best but it wouldn't surprise me if they had an awesome introductory price and offered a stripped down lite version for cheap.

I would honestly expect a price more like €300 as it's in the same realm as ableton. If they went mega cheap it would kick abletons ass though haha.
