Metallica and Lou Reed for more experimental albums!!

Maybe they should sign Shackleton. He seems good value.

Warp doesn't need to sign anyone new - rather, they need to focus on putting out more music by the artists we all already know and love on their roster.

I think we should all let go of the 'artists we all already know and love'—they'll never be as good as they were. Even if they continue to innovate and try new things (as is the case with Squarepusher and Autechre) the fanboys won't be into it.

nah. even though they're all getting on a bit in years they're still better than most! and definitely better than 90% of the newbies in the electronic scenes.. imo anyway.

some of them have just got a bit lazy in their old age. but when they're on it they're on it, like Shaolin Masters.

Likely:

Clams Casino

Should:

Global Goon

Global Goon

Global Goon

Global Goon by releases yes by liveact: no.

Ovuca / Aleksi Perälä should be signed by warp. His liveact the best I have seen besides Autechre. Most of the artists Richard signed on rephlex should be signed on WARP too especially the later ones.

I could see Clams getting signed by Warp, he'd fit right alongside Babe Rainbow... I really like Babe Rainbow but he needs to officially release more, Clams seems to be more prolific these days.

Babe Rainbow is decent. i like.

i think they should give Cygnus an album, and Ceephax. about time for Ceephax!

i'd also like to see LFO come back. and B12.

i think once they get something out from Aphex and BoC it will probably rekindle the idm fires again and we'll get more decent electronic music like that coming out on warp.

i think it's all due a comeback proper.

I think his music would fit Warp's catalog perfectly: http://framewatcher.com

Reminds of Boards of Canada not in a form of direct copycat, just gives me "that feeling", that nobody gives nowadays.

Yes, except he needs to rename reverse rainbow point. Really, that title just sucks, and shows the massive amount of influence he has taken from boards and rips em off in a way.

Don't forget reverb boxers

Mmm ceephax is a good shout. Maybe make a slightly more serious album (not tooo serious though). If you get my drift.

Would someone care to justify the statement that warp ever had a "unified idm sound"? Fact, they didn't. if you think chiastic slide, RDJ album and hard normal daddy represent a "unified sound" then you should reconsider your press reading/ music listening ratio.

who said they had a unified idm sound and that it was only those 3 albums?

basically they used to put out good electronic music and the time in which they did this best/most often happened to be the 1990's.

edit: and the first half of the 00's, like i said before.

Sebastien Tellier would be a good sign... he's eccentric enough to fit in with the ol' gang

They should sign pselodux.

Seriously though, they need more bands like PVT. I remember almost everyone on watmm hated them when they were first signed; then they came out with two fucking awesome albums and quite a few people changed their opinion completely.

Then again, it doesn't matter to me since there are so many amazing bands with a similar style that I see all the time in Melbourne.

modey: it's just cause some people think warp should only release electronic music. Personally I'm really glad they signed bands like Grizzly Bear (new album out in September yay!), Battles, Nice Nice and yes, PVT.

I would prefer warp only released electronic music, and sought out the best of it all the time.

but i don't mind guitars or indie rock music. i grew up on indie rock music and electronic.

but most of the indie type stuff warp signs i just find boring. that's just me.

i have nothing against guitars, just ftr... but nobody's doing anything interesting with them anymore, imo.

jesus it's 2012 ffs... where are the 10 piece synth bands.. or the 20 piece guitar bands... or the next aphex twin's and autechre's??

shit is well boring now, for 2012. cos nobody knows wtf to do next...

but nobody gives a shit what you (or any of the rest of us) "prefer", nor should they.

but shouldn't that be the main factor of why certain stuff is released and why other stuff isn't?

ie. fans. ? lol

shut up.

But since you don't run warp, i guess you're shit out of luck ;)

20 piece guitar bands have been around for a long time. Glenn Branca has been composing music for guitar ensembles since the 1980s. I hope I can get to see one of his shows in my life.

Here's a synth ensemble...lol

lol. as if you would have even come to hear of Autechre or AFX or Squarepusher or Boards if fan-pandering had actually been Warp's mantra from the start.

no wonder your taste is boring as fuck. you don't comprehend artistic merit, you just jump on the bandwagon.

hahahahah

yeh that's what i do!

i'm a bandwagon jumper.

edit: your post doesn't make sense. and you don't know my taste.

don't be mad man because australia has never produced 1 single good band of any worth, ever. :)
