..........Uh yeah, it's pretty obvious but.. giving a band, company or anything that needs promotion a "like" on Facebook is like being on their email mailing list on steroids with crack sprinkled in your smoking pipe. (as long as you don't unsubscribe from their postings) It's a free form of advertising (you realize that a lot of fucking money is spent on advertising right? when you "like" their FB they can advertise to you for free), promotion, or whatever content they want to be seen by lots of consumers.

True, but advertisements are so easy to get around so from my end I don't really see it being that beneficial... do people NOT have AdBlock nowadays?

You're not getting it, do you not have a Facebook, or are you having a major brain fart? When you "like" a group on Facebook, everything they want you to see comes up in your Newsfeed, Adblock would not block that LOL, I can't believe I have to explain this further. If anything you should be understand the increasing importance of the Facebook "Like", they pretend that they have befriended you and you're not even really supposed to be call what they post an advertisement, let alone block it with adblock, you let them into your life and you can't get them out unless you make the choice to unsubscribe from their content.

I still don't really understand the context of your response, I don't want to believe that you didn't understand what I was explaining. I want to believe you were stating that advertising in the normal old fashion is not an efficient use of money and that these new ways of promotion make more sense.

I'm saying that all this liking on facebook stuff is really obnoxious, of course traditional advertising is outdated

not to mention, as I said, ads being easy to get around anyways... ie unsubscribing

The majority of people watch TV, they don't unsubscribe and bump out their "like" groups from their news feed, they don't use anything similar to Adblock, they don't watch pirated TV shows and movies, advertisements affect their consumer lives.

I am pretty much the opposite of the above norm, doesn't mean shit, I've known most my life I think differently than the majority. I'm not dumb enough to think because I avoid advertising and that I don't let the little advertising I experience dictate my consumption that advertising isn't extremely important in our society.

Are you so sure about this? I'm not implying you're wrong but I know more people who pirate (sometimes exclusively) and who DO use adblock, etc then those who don't. At least, as far as people who I've talked to on the subject,

Which also raises another interesting, where would one find such numerical figures on the subject?

Are you all seriously missing the point that you OPT in to said "obnoxious" advertising? That's the whole point of liking something on Facebook, so you can get a custom tailored news feed full of stuff relevant to you. Why its it a bad thing to see ads on sales and stuff from a software company that puts out quality stuff? No one its forcing you to pay this small price for some free software, why are you so butt-hurt about it?

Because i'm actually an antisocial hermit who thinks anything facebook related is the scorn of the earth

But it's really just a whole general frustration... this just happened to be the example that caused me to make a mention, i'm just sick of hearing businesses always saying "LIKE US ON FACEBOOK", i have to hear that shit every day. Yes it's a petty complaint but we're on the internet and isn't that what it was invented for?

blame the users, not the tool. if your friends are annoying fucks, get better friends. facebook is a revolutionary resource that is changing the way the world connects, whether or not that is a good thing is up to you and how you use it.

can you blame them? is it surprising to you that the internet is the next-gen everything? obviously businesses are going to harness that... if you truly can't tune that stuff out, better stay off the internet. better not watch tv. better not ride the bus. better not go anywhere or do anything, because advertising is and always will be everywhere in one form or another.

Isn't that sick? I think ít's insane. Corporations with their money making businesses being everywhere. It's sick.

Well time to sleep, or I'll be too tired to consume tomorrow.

blah

why am I even awake

edit: I just realized this post didn't have the word fuck in it. It should. Fuck fuck. Fuck.

Or

you can be like a normal person and get these for free from the internet without using facebook or getting this free offer... :cerious:

I would be pissed if I bought the pack I have from them, maybe if it was like 50-99$ for all the instruments. That being said, I have all the VST's they have produced, and the only ones worth using are the Minimoog, Moog Modular and the Jupiter 8. Their CS-80vst is shit, as is the prophet, and the analog library thing takes ages to load, its ridiculous. But those three, are quite nice IMO, the modular just takes forever to work with sometimes... :music:

I'm not denying the reality that doesn't mean I don't have the right to be fucking annoyed by it

You're right, we should discuss Arturia synths instead. Jupiter 8V sounds awesome. Can't wait to try out the minimoog

I don't understand the people complaining about this being advertising; of course it's an ad, why else would they just give shit away? I fully support these kind of advertisement campaigns. I want them to work very well because that means more free things for me.

So basically they are giving away their old plug-ins to promote their new plug-ins.

And what's that library thing, just samples of real analog synths?

Basically its a vst that has a sort of a 'best of' sounds from their previous synths with one glaring drawback.. -- you can only edit like 4 pre-set parameters in the synths!

They also sell it with a special USB keyboard. Nifty for some, all the sounds and modulation possibilities were drier than a turkey besides a few on there though. I do like the minimoog as I said though, I use it all the time in tracks now.

it's really too bad they didn't make it like a "Reaktor/Reaktor Player" type thing where if you own the software synths used in a preset you can open them up and edit further.
