I approve of this. Coincidentally, I just listened to Doggystyle for the first time. I know I know.

this was one of the first CDs i ever bought, I was 12. at first some of the lyrics shocked my barely pubescent sensibilities but after a few weeks i was all like "I'm a tight ass nigga when i listen to dis"

I love playing off the grid as much as anyone, but parts of that beat are pretty fuckin hardcore out of time in the first song, like almost lazily slow on some elements.

as a drummer it irks me, it doesn't have to be clinical, but ffs, hit the downbeat at least.

I'm sure this album will be ace tho, I'm just a stickler...

Well, they were fucking stoned as all hell I'm sure. And it aint no shit weed.

the timing dont bug me much. But really, the music is a poor imitation of what kats did in the 80's with urban funk. That's my main issue with dam funk.

Thanks user487363530. And user4873635301. Now 48736353001.

I saw D-F at Glasto 2010. The tent was pretty empty but he killed it. Such a cool performer. HudMo played after him, and I was hoping D-F would come back out for that Tell Me What You Want From Me track, but it wasn't to be, sadly.

I can't believe this is happening. There was that other thread about dream collaborations, and I'd say Snoop and Dam-Funk are about as close to a perfect match as you can get. Really looking forward to actually enjoying a Snoop record again

Yeah... I don't buy the 'too stoned' to play in time. Some of the best jazz players were fecked as hell and still smashed up their kit in time. Hell, I work managing a cannabis dispensary in Seattle where I smoke some of the finest 'erb and I can still record a beat in time.

Like I said, just a stickler.

I like Dam-funk, I think he's a hell of a live show as he actually plays his keyboard live and raps/sings but I can see what you mean. Then again, he's one man. Dudes like Zapp and Roger and the like were groups of fundamentally sound and trained musicians making music as a group.

touche. The weed thing was a lame joke btw.

Agreed about the musicianship. I'm a child of that music from the 80's, so I tend to judge folks trying to recapture that sound on a curve. I appreciate acts trying to incorporate the 80's boogie/urban funk sound. That's a good thing. Just something about DF is just kinda "there". A lot of what makes that music from the 80's swing for me is the good hooks/chorus. I just don't get the same feelin' from DF. But, he's still got years to grow & put some bangerz out. Maybe getting together with a few other musicians would be a good thing. Get some 80's boogie guitar & I'm in.
