OK you're talking about the front-left paw, right? If it was getting pulled in the direction of the derp, it would be moving in a totally different direction, almost perpendicular.

My money is on it staring at a laser or some similar tiny moving object.

Back-right. The cat's front-left. When it tries to put it's two front-feet down they seem to be dragged forwards rather than pushed by the exertion of the back legs.

I think it's just because the cat is doing that spine-curving thing. I've seen cats move in fairly bizarre ways when they do that, even when they're on carpet. On a smooth surface I could totally see it making it do this moonwalk type of stuff.

Most of its weight is on the back legs and they don't seem to be dragged at all, although they do hop a couple of times. Also, if it was getting dragged by the front leg, the angle of the front leg would stay much closer to horizontal, like it is in the beginning of the gif.

I think there is a gravity factor in that gif.

I'd have thought that if it had something tied round its paw it would be preoccupied with looking at that rather than doing the excitement/scare type back thing that its doing. My cat used to do it quite often. They don't seem to have complete control when in full swing.

looks like a very young cat, it's probably not that well coordinated yet, though.

Yes, I think it's just a very slippery counter and a silly cat. From the face it's making I deduct a dog or enemy cat has entered the premises.
