Your original question was whether draft was "the best autechre", and imo "best" doesn't necessarily mean favourite, ie someone might have a favourite album but recognize it is flawed and may see other work as higher "quality" but not love it as much. Especially with an act like autechre lol. Technically everything they put out is their "best" because they just keep leveling up their skill. Draft might be considered the pinnacle of the direction they were heading in at the time, I'll give it that. Reveal hidden contents If I had a gun to my head I'd say ep7. It holds a special place in my life and music-memory, and doesn't contain a single dud track. At the same time I recognize that obviously they have evolved quite a bit since then, and don't want to seem like one of those fans clinging to the past. I love their new shit.
