God, why didn't I play Super Metroid before? It's pretty fantastic. Easier than Metroid but in a good way. Are any of the later Metroid games as good as these two? The FPS aspect of the later Metroids put me off a bit.

The two GBA games are close but for me Super Metroid is the peak of the franchise - Fusion seemed really kinda linear in comparison, Zero Mission gets really interesting when it breaks from the ties of the NES original but that takes a while.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Metroid: Zero Mission is a GameBoy Advance remake of orig Metroid 1 but with update graphics and map.

Metroid Fusion is another GBA game, developed by Super Metroid team.

haven't played either but they look sweet.

also, Metroid Prime is wicked. never beat it but i did enjoy playing it. excellent vibe + music ( but a tad too claustophobic and tad too easy to get lost.. need to revisit it).

got Metroid Prime trilogy on wii which has all 3 games but in widescreen and with wii motion controls similar to Metroid Prime 3. (Metroid Prime trilogy with wii controls is downloadable on wii u digital store).

Metroid Fusion is my favorite GBA game ever and the only Metroid game I ever played ! Beat it tons of time, love to revisit that world...but yeah even if you have to revisit some parts of the station multiple times it's quite linear.

Will try Super Metroid this week :)

i bought prime trilogy for wii u and immediately turned it off when i realized it was forcing you to use motion controls. huge wasted opportunity. i guess they got my money tho

I've been replaying Metroid Fusion on a GBA emulator on my phone. That and Advance Wars. Advance Wars is amazing.

Fun fact : I traded my Metroid Fusion cartridge against a friend's Advance Wars 2...My two best gaming experiences on GBA. Never really had any similar experiences on handheld devices after that !

Advance Wars is really hard, plus there's just too many units and gameplay details and techniques, can't retain that much info. Also I suck at it

Super Metroid is dope on 3DS, especially since you can play it with its original resolution. A Link To The Past is still amazing after all these years, I've been meaning to have a proper Zelda session with the following path: ALTTP -> A Link Between Worlds -> OoT -> MM -> Majoras Mask -> Wind Waker -> Twilight Princess, all of the older ones being the remasters.

TP is one of the most underrated Zelda games, it's much better than Skyward Sword, but that's mainly because you're forced to play like a moron in the latter. I've only completed it once, and that was 10 years ago, so I'm looking forward to not remembering a thing.

Hit 50 hours on New Vegas, gonna do all the DLC, wrap up all quests, then move onto Skyrim (with DLC) before jumping into Fallout 4.

I've also been playing Trails in the Sky on Vita, but most of the above are eating up my time way more.

PSN needs to have the old Street Fighter games on sale, because I've been jonesing them big time.

been playing stardew valley all week. makes me really happy. :cat::emb:

GHOST: have you killed Claudius yet
HAMLET: no
GHOST: why

That's the "indie Harvest Moon" game right? That would probably eat up far too many hours of my life, loved HM.

Stoked to watch OA II. The movement thing never bothered me, anyone familiar with Druidic studies will recognize the importance of movement to get to higher planes.

think i might dive into twilight princess hd after this weekend.

also i should finally beat link to the past so i can play link between worlds ;O

i liked skyward sword a lot. probably the single best implementation of motion controls on a wii game that i can think of. that being said i'd gladly play it without them

id agree with this !!

skyword sword is a mixed bag for me. the controls were totally fine and owed alot to the fun gameplay for the game, but the game itself had pacing issues for me. the lack of exploration + minimal world to explore + the lacklustre flying area equivilent of hyrule field / great sea.. but with veeery little to explore. + the rinse and repeat of going back to old areas over and over again.

hmm !!

the game for me was a mixed bag. great controls though and one thing that really stuck out for me with skyward sword was that the game was alot more focused on trimming the fat and focusing on parts that were pure gameplay focused... but ... it still seemed unbalanced and a bit weird to me. would be fun to replay it tho.. come think of it.

toward the end of skyward sword, when you get the bow and have a lot of items under your belt and the game eases up on the handholding is when i really started having fun with the game. having to mix up the items alot and try different things. there's that one bit in particular toward the very very end of the game where it throws hordes of enemies at you all at once and holy shit that was soooo much fun ... i wish the whole game was a bit more over the top and less forgiving in actually trying to kick your ass because those parts where the best bits for me. but they were so short lived.

I felt the controls hampered my enjoyment of it, especially when there are new factors such as shields deteriorating and stamina meters. It irritates me because it should've made me feel how Wind Waker did all those years ago, but waggling my hands blindsided my enjoyment of it instead.

I forgot to mention re: Metroid Prime, those are some of the best Metroid games, the Gamecube originals being the best ones, the re-release on Wii are actually downgrades, in my opinion. No idea why Nintendo haven't bothered with a follow up, feels like the gamepad was made for a game like Metroid.

For some reason, I completely left out Link's Awakening and Oracle of Ages/Seasons on the Zelda front, those are some fine games too. I no longer own them, sadly, and the price is too steep on the e-shop considering how easy it is to emulate them.

I don't know how much of a successor A Link Between Worlds (I need to complete it too) is apart from game design, but ALTTP is timeless. Doesn't matter if you play it now, or play it in 10 years time, it will always be amazing.

yeah. i think they sort of did. the controls definitely dictated the game direction... like, you have a billion heart pieces straight off the bat to compensate for the controller incorrectly registering the incorrect move from time to time. but i still had fun with it. i enjoyed it alot more than twilight princess on wii's attempt with "shake control" for an equivalent of non-directional b button press.

very much looking forward to the new zelda game not bothering with motion controls and instead just purely on the gameplay.

Playing Twilight Princess HD on Hero Mode - fuck me, really hard in some spots (Hero Mode gives you NO heart refills except for heart container pieces). Nice HD remake though.

Salt and Sanctuary is out today on PSN - everyone's saying it's THE game to play until Dark Souls 3 comes out...

hate the art/animation style of s&s ;\

Can't say I am a fan of it either; it's the only thing holding me back from getting it. But, as with Galak-Z, I was able to look past the art style and enjoy the game itself, so there's something in that. Hated Rogue Legacy's artwork at first too.

By the way, what kind of fightstick do you use? I'm using an old SFIV MadCatz one, been looking at getting a HORI RAP KAI to replace it...

And to stop having to use a DS4 to sync my "legacy controller"...

Bought the Hitman intro pack a couple of days ago. Pretty gooooood... also a tiny bit frustrating from time to time when you really want to be a silent killer.

The original 1994 System Shock is getting remastered!
[youtubehd]xaI7fg6_K2E[/youtubehd]
Also System Shock 3 to be developed, with the involvement of Warren Specter, who worked on the original Deus Ex. Fokk yeah.

Damn game industry keeps finding ways to coax money out of me lol

yep, that's the one. Completely made by one guy (including the wonderful soundtrack)...apparently started out as a way to teach himself programming.

And yeah it is seriously, soothingly addictive :)
