Hitboxes were too large in CS:S. They made them smaller in CS:GO. Combine that with new recoil behaviour and people start whining because they can't hit shit. I think it's an improvement.

it's really really great, i managed to complete it today after about 25 attempts. the game mechanics are simply brilliant. although by the time you've completed it you'd have pretty much seen everything so there's not much replay value.

Is it just me or is the flashlight in Black Mesa totally useless?

I find points where I want to use it but overall it does seem like your fine without it.

What I mean is, it doesn't seem to illuminate worth a damn.

i need a good slow paced, calm simulator style game without stressful events (gun fights, etc)

Going to look at the most recent Sim City and go from there.

Does anyone know it Black Mesa will be released for mac?

I don't think it will, because it requires the SDK to run and Valve still hasn't released for Mac. Unfortunately.

Just finished Black Mesa. Apart from sticky ladders, some difficulty and level design issues this is pretty much the perfect love letter. It's unbelievable how much of the memorable stuff they got right or even improved upon without copying any of the source material. The enemy AI, the voice acting, the sound design, the level design, the scripted sequences... All so inspired by early and later Valve games yet never lazily copied over. I hope they get all the press praise they deserve next week.

started another game of SKyrim, hoping to complete all the major quest lines.

One thing that really blows my mind about this game is that you dont have a screen on the inventory to see what your character looks like (changing armor, weapons, etc.). There is even more than enough room to show that on the inventory system screen...why didn't they keep this feature from Oblivion? Drives me nuts.

controversial opinion ahead:

half life and its different manifestation are kinda crap. speaking of black mesa: it's extremely linear, the "puzzles" are much more frustrating than mentally challenging, random teleporting enemies when reaching specific points is a joke, combat too often relies on swarming you with enemies from preset points, you die 3-5 times, memorize their positions and then win, it's a load-save-load-save porn, an arcade platformer (always hated those) in the skin of an fps. at least half life 2 had a really great atmosphere, this one has nothing of that.

Keep in mind, that HL1 is from 1998. The same year as Resident Evil 2. It's 14 years old... man, that makes me feel old.

HL definitely needs to be located in historical context to be fully appreciated. But that doesn't seem hard to do?

I'd still rather play it for the millionth time than be in the same room as a call of duty game, or Rage, or....

Finally at the end of Dead Space 2 on Zelot difficulty, and the last few chapters have been a slog, with little ammo, little heath, and no money to purchase either. The final confrontation (click only if you want to be spoiled)

are you incapable of pressing the hotkey that switches the camera from 1st person to over-the-shoulder? lol

so i started up Yakuza 4 again. damn this game is so amazing. Great story, great characters and the open world is fantastic. if you've never played it you need to go buy this right now.

FTL looks wicked, I think I will have to check it out.

I just finished Final Fantasy X and Half-Life 2. I'm now playing Devil May Cry 3 (the original north american version in which Normal difficulty equals to Hard difficulty in the japanese version). I have been stuck at the Cerberus boss for a while. :(

oh i see. no, not what im talking about. Even when you do the over-the-shoulder perspective you cant really zoom in to see facial features/minor changes like you could in Oblivion. Maybe they fixed that on PC, but I haven't seen a way to do in on PS3.

I play Civilization V recently. I love its turn-based gameplay which allows you to employ your own pace. When it comes to battle it relies heavily on your strategy and tactics and I love that you can still play as fast as you like.

Faster Than Light looks like a generic RTS game, but in Flash. Am I missing something?

yeahhhhh you kind of are it's hard to explain. it's like a... spaceship simulator but also kind of a dungeon crawler/roguelike. the combat is real time but not really like a classic RTS at all, a good chunk of what you spend your time doing is damage mitigation and stuff like that. it's pretty unique.

and yeah it's not the prettiest thing ever but it's a 9 dollar game made by like two dudes so you'll have that.

I got up to the end boss with the same amount of stuff as you.I gave It about 5 tries and couldn't do it.

I can't be fucked to try it again, that boss totally sucks imo. Whats up with the shadow kids? I can barely see them.
