I took off a few days and marathoned it. I haven't marathoned a game in over a year and wanted to do it with something and this seemed like a good game to do it with.

I focused on the main quest, beat it, now I'm going around and doing stuff I missed.

i've barely focused on the main quest .. just found it a tad straight forward and light. the real joy of the game (for me!!) is definitely just roaming around and taking my time, exploring, fucking around with enemies, etc.etc. the game is not a short one if you take the time to explore everything / do the side stuff. 

Ladalaika, don't worry it's definitely not short. There's a reason I said 'finally' and also focused almost solely on the main quest. I felt like an addict for a few days. But you need a good marathon here and there right?

If i hadnt been hell bent on beating the game in a few short days Id have played it like bitroast. Definitely play it like that. But don't worry about missing stuff too much. You can go back afterward.

all of the Tomorrow Corporation games, including World of Goo got released on Switch today, and the pointer controls look like they work fine.  So, it seems almost any Wii game could be ported.

you can play super mario galaxy games on the dolphin emulator on pc, and map the motion controls (aiming the star thing around to pick up the star bits) using the right joystick on your gamepad (xbox360 controller) and it works pretty nicely. it'd be cool to see those games ported over and just using normal controller inputs .. cos those games are cool but have no benefit from motion controls (IMO).

speaking of motion controls, playing zelda BOTW with a pro controller is really comfortable. in general, just how the game feels and how snappy and fluid everything feels is really good.

the pro controller as a standard controller is really good, but it also has built in motion controls. so for example, you hold R2 to pull out your bow+arrow and aim, and use right joy stick to aim. but when holding R2 the motion controls also kick in and you can slightly maneuvure/rotate the controller for more precision aiming. the zelda games on wii u had it as well but only when using the gamepad i think.. which is kind of cumbersome and awkward. it's just really cool seeing nintendo sticking with motion controls and actually getting it right. ((complimenting a solid controller input as opposed to outright trying to replace everything with motion controls forefront and centre)) 

just finished horizon zero dawn, for a game that steals most of its ideas from other games its pretty good. The writing wasn't even terrible in parts, and it even had some vaguely interesting sci-fi ideas

I have no clue how you guys got a Nintendo Switch. Basically the instant (like 10 minutes after) the announcement for it started, I pre ordered it on Amazon, yet I'm still very much in the invisible line.

im genuinely tempted to buy one just for zelda and then sell it straight away afterwards.

i couldn't be bothered pre-ordering and had no real intension of getting one so early. i was keen to get one but was more thinking i'll wait a year or a bit for some more games to come out and make the purchase more worthwhile. the day it came out i had the friday off and woke up ~12pm-ish .. started thinking "switch is out.. i wonder if i can walk in and buy a switch .. or if it'll be sold out." so i walked to my nearest gamestore and pretty much just impulse purchased the damn thing and walked out. *slaps forehead* !! 

beyond zelda there's not much on there. puyopuyo tetris is available on japanese shop with all japanese text in menus and no english (english version coming soon). snipperclips is fun multiplayer. fast rmx honestly just doesn't do a great deal of anything for me. shovelknight, blastermaster seems kind of pointless.

Didn't even consciously plan buying it, but was intrigued by botw. Walked into a electronics retailer just to check and there it was and instabuy.

Also how t f has anyone finished zelda main quest tbh. Been playing intensely for more than a week now and seen maybe a bit more than 1/3 of the map

still lots of enemies which are clearly too strong

but just got the

ye there are so many things to do and side quests that to beat the game quickly i imagine you'd have to focus hard on ignoring a lot of that and focus a lot more on just the main quest stuff. there's a speed run on youtube of someone beating the game in an hour, first half hour being the initial plateaux area and then rest is (haven't watched second half) is seemingly then just going straight to the end of the game and beating it lol.

i recently got obsessed with boosting my max health and doing a bunch of shrines .. boosting the health for a specific quest in the game .. and done that / accomplished what i wanted yesterday :):):) so i'm pretty happy now. back to checking off side quests i guess.

i got the money all saved up, just waiting for the switch to become available,

Just cancelled my preorder of Mass Effect Andromeda. I don't even know why I pre-ordered in the first place, it's for fanboys and dummies innit. oh... right.

I'll buy it in six months when they've sorted out the bugs and the price is down.

Been playing some "GoldenEye 007" romhacks recently. Some of the levels are pretty unimpressive where they're just levels from the original game with a few redesigned textures or something, but others are total conversions of levels from the ground up that look amazing. The "Island" level is personally one of my favourites.

A small handful of the already existing levels from Multiplayer ported to be a single player mission aren't bad, though. I especially like the fact that someone ported the "Grid" multiplayer mission from "Perfect Dark" to become a solo mission.
