How the hell has anyone beaten Bloodborne? I've been working on this game for like 5 months.

By gittin' gud. ;)

It does take some effort to play how they force you to play, that's for sure. Still need to do another playthrough, if I could quit writing music.

Where you stuck at?

I made it all the way to the Nightmare of Mensis and couldn't make it past that first lantern stretch where you have to run past Frenzy Tower, boulder chucking guys, and beasts that spawn a bunch of worms when you kill them.  I think the issue was that I very poorly invested levelling up weapons that were too slow and didn't suit my playstyle (Boomhammer & Ludwig Sword), so by the time I got to this part it was just pure frustration.

I started a new character to upgrade/level up more wisely now that I understand the systems of the game.  This time I'm fully upgrading the saw spear & starting axe.  I actually did the exact same thing in Dark Souls 2 my first time through... made it 75% of the way through the game and realized that, in my ignorance, I invested all my resources horribly, then started over doing it more wisely and having way more fun.

On character #2 I'm already up to the second half of the forbidden woods again and finding that snake bros are going down in half as many hits, and bosses I already beat are going down first or second try now (as is normal for a souls game once you 'learn' it).  From the videos I've seen I'm probably going to have some real trouble with the DLC bosses.

The saw spear, and in particular the axe, are very decent weapons, no reason they can't take you to the end of the game.

The Nightmare of Mensis is tough, don't feel down! Protip for the weird beasts that burst out worms - if the killing blow involves fire in some way, they won't spawn worms.

I have actually been playing through BB recently with a bloodtinge build - weak as hell to start but you become a damage dealing monster as your BT stat gets to 50. Though currently getting my ass kicked by Ludwig, forgot how tough the DLC is.

Stoked to watch OA II. The movement thing never bothered me, anyone familiar with Druidic studies will recognize the importance of movement to get to higher planes.

Are there any right-hand weapons that are good for a bloodtinge or arcane build?  I'm interested in giving one of those two a shot with the next character.

For bloodtinge, C H I K A G E, hands down. Just keep high VIT as BT scaling only works when it's transformed and draining your HP.

Simon's Bowblade and the Bloodletter are good too but they're not available until way into the DLC.

Arcane can use a lot of stuff effectively depending on the build. I had an arcaney character that did most of the game with the Tonitrus. Like the Chikage though, keep in mind your buff scaling only comes into play when you 'activate' it. I think the Boom Hammer, Wheel, and Moonlight Sword are good arcane choices as well.

Just realised Ludwig wields the Moonlight Sword and Ludwig van Beethoven wrote the Moonlight Sonata.

wait, what? I didn't even know.

Yes ! And it's a total game changer. You start thinking about the game in a whole different way when you know you have the possibility to reroll things. It feels like cheating at first but it's really helpful when you stretch fighting stronger bosses etc - and you avoid overly long runs which are kinda boring !!

...and I spent about an hour last night trying to unlock the last shortcut in the forbidden woods before ragequitting at some snakepile deaths.  This game kicks my ass.

Completed Drakengard 3's Branch D, including the crazy final boss (which I did without looking at the screen!). Not the best Yoko Taro game, but it was fun.

Now I have nothing left to play. :catcry:

Well well, I've been thinking for a while now how it would be cool to have a Fallout game set in the PNW. And as it turns out, there's already a third party expansion in the works by a 100+ member mod team with that very goal in mind:

Got second place in PUBG! Jesus Christ, that's the most intense shit I've tried in a long time in a video game

just wait til you get that chicken dinner!

finally played through Metro 2033 after years of having it in my Steam library. I riked it! the Redux is an impressive remaster for just 9gb, partly due to the efforts that went into the environment design. the overall effect was quite convincing and immersive.

I have both games in my library, but only ever made it to the menu before I decided to wait for some other time. That was 3 years ago now. I really want to play it but I think the idea of playing it is more intriguing than actually playing it.

it does seem kind of meh on the surface at first but you grow into it. it's like they took Stalker and made it more AAA, for both better and worse.

edit: in other news, I'm trying to play Layers of Fear (same studio as Observer) and it's beautiful but buggy af. I can't play for more than 2 minutes before the video crashes and is replaced by a black screen, whilst the rest of the engine continues running. nobody on the forums has reported such a problem (though there are a shitload of bugs generally - hope Observer isn't this buggy) so there's no known solution. annoying cos I really want to play this.

The Metro games are fantastic. I keep meaning to replay through since upgrading my PC, the graphics are excellent. All the details and atmosphere make it, you can spend a while wandering the town areas, lovely warmth of people keeping it together in contrast to the hostile outside world. Having to clean gunk off your visor and checking your watch for time left on your mask filter are great touches.

I seem to remember stealth being good too, if you make a small noise, human AI will coordinate sweeping the area together, I might be looking back with rose tinted glasses though.

the AI was smart in certain locations and silly in others.

but yeah, the environments! best part of it imo. the textures and lighting/shadows were fab. loved going to the surface too, the snowstorm in the second topside venture whilst assaulting the Nazi outpost was great. and towards the end of that scene when the Demons swept in, the combined stresses of the blinding snow/howling wind, fending off both human and mutant enemies, degrading mask + air filters, minimal ammo and high damageability made for a super-tense and fun experience.

Weird, played it from start to finish a couple of times without a single crash, freeze or hint of a glitch/bug. Is this PC build ? (is it only on PC?)

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.
