Wasn't there a discussion around the time of Moves of Ten and the EPs release about Autechre's contract with Warp?

I'm asking b/c I really don't see the point of being on a label that doesn't do any promotion for you any more. Is the manufacture of discs and vinyl really that important anymore? For some sure, but couldn't AE front that themselves? Maybe Warp covers their touring expenses? It's not like the label is paying for their music videos.

Warp acts like a label for Grizzly Bear and then acts like a vendor for Autechre. For a second if you imagine Warp wasn't involved with Exai at all, would it be so different as the experience would be lessened?

I've been thinking the same thing. But then again, I thought that during Oversteps? Maybe their last for Warp?

Looking at the bigger picture, they still have fresh ideas. It's not like touring takes that much out of them. How much do you think they profit every 2-3 years along with touring? £100k - 200k each? That seems on the high end of realistic. That said, why give that up? Do we really think the 90's made them SO much money that they never have to work again? I'm guessing if this is their last studio album together, we'd start to see releases by both, more Gescom, and eventually Soundboards.
