Truly. I dare anyone to stay awake through the entirety of "hills of gold."

"Fields of Gold" is a beautiful, majestic work of art. I used to listen to it while I energy-shaped.

I've always thought of Sting as grocery store or department store music. I can't imagine someone, like, seeking out his music and actively listening to it. That would be foolish.

are you guys talking about "the police" ? they have some good songs.....

Jack. Fucking. Johnson. His music is like a pile of nothing. I know that sounds completely innocuous, but it makes my soul feel empty every time I hear it.

Good shout. I'd drink to that.

Sting is a good knife fighter, so I could never flat out hate him.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

eryka baduh or whatever the fuck. jesus what a diva who thinks she's 100x more talented and 100x more interesting than she is. YIKES I actually think nominally talented people like her who are really just shameless self-promoters are my least favorite subset of musical artists

shit like this just kills me

In her early youth, she decided to change the spelling of her name from Erica to Erykah, as she firmly believed her original name to be her slave name. The term 'kah' signifies the inner self. Badu is her favorite jazz scat sound and is also an African name for the 10th born child used for the Akanpeople in Ghana.[2]

Badu’s style is a prime illustration of Neo-Soul, in that it focuses on the contemporary styles of the genres soul and hip hop and it sends out a deeper message as opposed to common R&B music. The songs in Badu’s album, “Baduizm” exemplifies her personal take on life. Her philosophy features ideologies from African influences, with fusions from the Nation of Islam and the Five Percent theologies, the complex views of the ancient Egyptians, and Southern African-American folk traditions. The majority of Badu’s music is greatly influenced by her beliefs of the NOI or the Nation of Islam and her African roots and heritage.[3]

christ i'll take charming and harmless drexciyan afro-futurism any day over that codswollop

hmm I mean I guess the concept works if the music is interesting and novel, just seems pretentious if it's not

I could hardly agree more. Just do not understand the appeal.

Bah I disagree.

She's one of those now-rare instances of talent making Top 40.

She has a lovely voice, and she doesn't require auto-tune or other propping-up (which can't be said for 99% of the field).

Yeah I've never heard that before. While I think that most singers suck, and that vocals can easily ruin a good song, I still like my fair share of music with them. It's not all bad.

yeah I'm still in my strong 18s so I hope I can open my mind to singers in the future, though I hate them so fucking much right now... but meh

Don't...

When I first saw the name I thought it was somebody taking the piss out of Aesop Rock. Turns out someone actually chose to be called ASAP Rocky.

And Sting, he can fuck off simple for being Sting. Preaching for ordinary folk to give 'as much as you can' to starving children while he gave shit and became a tax exile.

:doge: Jet fuel can't melt dank memes :doge:
