peace 7
Uh, I recently saw White Chicks for the first time. It reminded me of how 80's comedy films could be shitty. But then overall not bad. But if I said I loved it, I would need a cream cardigan wrapped around the collar of my baby blue golf shirt. I would have to wear khaki pants but be content with some light stains. I would have to not be able to tell the difference between any brews of coffee. I would have to say "I work out", which would actually mean I only do light cardio at my workplace gym (and my body would be rickety). I would have to style my hair with some product in just the front- and think I'm sharp- but leave the back with original morning pillow mess. I would have to "like" the Mona Lisa painting cuz it's "good art". I would have to watch Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood and wonder why they had to use so much profanity and think the grandma punching scene was "not funny and too violent"; after which I would end with, "I loved White Chicks, though." delet...
superman 2 - passed the time. It did have me wondering a few things, like why doesn't superman fly standing up, why is his default position to lie down with his arm thrust forward? Maybe he does it because it looks cool, or perhaps there's some special power in his open palm, that helps to drag his through the ether. I spent the film pondering shit of this sort. Bloodsport - van damme as a youngster duking it out in Hong Kong. Was based on a 'true' story, the wiki desputes this. MadameChaos
I almost forgot, I watched The Great Gatsby not long ago and really liked it. (did I post about it?, can't rmember) A lot of people were slagging it off for using hip-hop music, although I thought it jarred (a little not a lot) this didn't ruin the film for me. I thought it was beautifully shot and the performances were vivid (if a little overdone). Some of it was slightly over directed (literally "reaching"?) On the whole I felt it really brought the book to life (I read it ages ago but had forgotten most of it). 8/10 PS Leo's acting made me forget for a short while that he is a bit of a potatoface (new potato). Schlitze
Movie 43 - Lame on every level imaginable. Marginally better than Sound Of My Voice due to the absence of hipsters. 1/10 Bullhead - Nice original premise, unpredictable. Could have used a little more intensity at the finale. 7/10 To The Wonder - I guess one day when i can understand this properly it could be life affirming. Until then, five point five out of ten The Road - Don't know why it's taken me so long to get round to watching this. 8.5/10 Godfather Part 3 - A bit of a waste. It was extremely clumsy in parts, especially the last hour where it seemed like they were trying to fill up time for the hell of it. Held together mainly by the people who featured in the first two and Andy Garcia. The rest of them (a lot of the old timers) felt they'd just walked in off a Walter Matheau comedy. 6/10 Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/75962-films-recently-watched/page/124/#findComment-2030672 Share on other sites

Danny O Flannagin
Spring Breakers: I understood what the director was trying to convey, how the youth become shallow and violent through the media glorification of spring break. But in the end, i didnt feel like there was a lot of substance in the movie and i went into it thinking it'd be a lot more shocking. There was so much fluff, it was a little unbearable but i guess that's kind of the point, to show how shallow these girls are. Decent concept that could've been done a lot better in my humble opinion Black Dynamite: Best film ever made 10/10 Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Danny O Flannagin's signature Hide all signatures https://nimajeb.bandcamp.com/music https://www.instagram.com/bengastphoto/ Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/75962-films-recently-watched/page/124/#findComment-2031065 Share on other sites
