for a few dollars more - was pretty transfixed/entertained the entire film. amazing music, moods. satisfying story. all characters are bad ass. 9.2/10.

bullitt - amazing story. amazing car scene. amazing sound design. 9/10.

the gumball rally - was watching the bathurst race and turned it off after half an hour, opting to put on a racing movie instead. would hardly call this a movie. there was no plot. just driving and the odd 70s silly humour (humour which went completely over my head). did not enjoy at all. 0/10.

best worst movie - documentary on troll 2, b horror movie with massive cult following for being the worst movie ever made. i'm developing a soft spot for documentaries focusing on interesting kooky characters (american movie, king of kong, crumb , etc.) this sat in rather nicely. it gets particularly interesting when it develops more on the actors/directors perception of the films importance and why the film has such a strong cult following. 8/10

super 8 - fun. spielberg-esque sci-fi kids adventure film. there's a scene i didn't like, torwards the end, where the **spoiler** kid is just staring point blank at monster and telling him his understands and monster doesn't eat him up**/spoiler**. that scene was a bit horrible. but it was minor. and the film was fun and enjoyable and.. good? enough for me not to hate it. bit of a homage as opposed to anything super original, but still enjoyable. 7/10.

Avengers 0/10

What crap! Where is all the love for this movie coming from?

It has to be some next level PR magic the studio is pulling

or the mass taste has really hit rock bottom with this.

I read marvel comics as kid. I loved that shit.

But that does not change the fact that I sat in front of this movie

shocked by how unbelievably bad I found it to be.

It felt totally artificial and soulless. The action was boring and

had no coolness or bite to it. The attempts at humor were

just sad and felt like smug wise ass geeks had written the lines.

To be fair … I didn’t finish it. I couldn’t couse it’s two and a half

fucking hours long! What the fuck is with that anyway?

Anyone nowadays will struggle to focus on any short clip on youtube

but will enjoy being fed 2,5 hours of this kind of mind numbing

garbage? This movie was last time for a while I am giving a comic

movie a try because it violated my intellect … and please …

I know it’s "fantasy" and "exaggerated" but come on …

it was bad film that made me feel angry at the people responsable

for making this king of wank and sad for people that really

like it for what it is.

I remeber when something like Pulp Fiction sparked a big hype.

That was a truly creative, intelligent, original and raw piece of

fimmaking that people connected to because it was awesome.

This is just old ideas made with more CGI and less heart.

Fuck this piece of shit movie … DAMN!

Yeah …

Just had to vent that for once …

I mean who the fuck cares, really?

What does it matter? I hated the movie … big fucking deal.

It got me thinking on movies I didn’t despise recently

and it is hard to come up with much …

I used to love watching those guilty pleasure action flix.

But I guess I just grew out of it …

I think the above statements are potentially grounds for a psychiatric evaluation.

I'm currently watching the end of the Avatar cartoon series, which is about as long as a movie. It's embarrassingly trite, especially since it's supposed to be an Asian style film and yet has so many American clichés.

Lumumba 7/10

A decent biopic...but it feels way too streamlined...everything moves by really quickly and with little more than surface explanation of what's going on. Would have been interesting to see what was going on behind the scenes with Mobutu...but man those last 20 minutes are really haunting.

Phenomena. Bonkers Argento film. 8/10.

Inferno. Good atmospheric Argento film. 8/10.

The Beyond. Quality gorey zombie film from fulci.

Silver Bullet. Gary Busey getting thrown about by a werewolf. Good fun. 6/10.

Lake Mungo. Haunting and sad Horror documentary film. There`s one very creepy scene in this film that stuck in my head. 8/10.

Just Before Dawn. Not bad 80`s slasher. 6/10.

Phenomena is extremely weird. Jennifer Connolly & Donald Pleasance battling bugs from what i can hazily remember. I'm sure it had a pretty bloody amazing finale.

The New York Ripper - 7/10. Nice horror but completely spoiled by the rippers (dubbed) voice on the phone provoking the cops (some critics have said he sounds like Howard the Duck). Hopefully we'll get a subtitled version of this film someday.

The Raid - 9/10 Awesome.

Avengers Assemble - 8/10 I'm Feelin it.

Silent House 4/10 Is that the ghost of Jimmy Savile haunting that house? Boring.

Livid - Same blokes that created the excellent Inside, not anywhere near as freaky and far too much supernatural nonsense, has a very good first half though. I dunno, if you liked Insidious you'd probably love it.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

Prometheus (again) - 9/10 only a sequel will make it better

The Proposition - 2/10 way overhyped, lite on plot

The Road - 8/10 beautiful desolation

Hey it's a Guy Pearce marathon!

^here's another:

Lawless 8/10

Brutal and engaging. The whole cast was actually perfect imo, which is interesting because almost none of them were signed on originally - I think it would of been quite mediocre with the initial proposed cast. It was a nice change-up seeing a prohibition film not confined to big city settings but instead set in Western Virginia and focused on moonshiners and not mobsters. The rural backdrop was lovely visually, made for a nice distraction from the utter violence central to the movie. It doesn't drag at all but the ending seems a bit rushed and predictable.

^ Yeah I saw that w my dad, who really likes historical drama, but it seemed to drag on, the audience gave off that vibe as well.
