KovalainenFanBoy
Gummo - some boring segments (the retarded girl with the toys, her segments were totally forgettable) but overall a fascinating and surprisingly entertaining watch. eugene
money monster - this is not cinema as i understand it, it's just some kind of regurgitation and summation of current pre-election liberal/anti corporate discourse that you can witness on reddit or the like in a video form with some background story slapped on. Rubin Farr
Cabin in the Woods - I love this one, classic. They sell that coffee mug bong online, ver. 3 is stainless steel, and actually holds coffee now. For your stealth stoner needs, and zombie defense. http://www.storecoffeemug.com/ hey Gramps, you gotta light? LOL Clown - pretty entertaining and funny. Never skimp on your kid's bday entertainment. American Gangster (Extended Edition) - Almost 3 hours long now, adds some exposition, but a little boring in places. chim
Jason Bourne I understand the mixed reactions for this movie as a fifth installment wasn't really necessary, but as a gargantuan Bourne and Damon fan I loved it from start to finish. Some terrific, gritty action scenes that put most recent cinema busters to shame, and more of that fly-on-the wall espionage suspense I can't seem to get enough of. Swedish homegirl Vikander does a great job, as well as the aged but competent Cassel. Some loose ends are tied up but nothing truly extraordinary happens, I think it ranks slightly above Supremacy just because of the set pieces and overall better performances. If you dug the earlier films, are tired of hacky CGI capeshit and want something ruthless and more realistic than Bond, you'll have a phenomenal time. eugene
joshy - this one definitely falls into this "forgettable sundace dramedy for 30 year olds" genre that i can usually stand for for about 30 minutes tops, but i liked it, i guess it was just well balanced in the lols-vs-drama department, written and acted well enough and easy to identify with. the lols were funny, the drama was poignant enough. i'll def forget about it in 3 days but it was a pleasant enough 90 mins to spend. Schlitze
Don't be too hard on Deadpool, i thought it had a lot of cool stuff, it's certainly not 0/10. It's 7/10. Got home quite late last night with a Dominos (the 5.99 deal. medium, two toppings) ready to watch Hobbit 3. Put on the 3d glasses + pushed the couch close to the telly. Relaxed. Got completey distracted by Mo Farah winning then started flicking through the channels and found Treacle Jr. 8/10 Aiden Gillen who you may know as Littlefinger never seems to play the same character twice., my favourite actor atm. In Treacle Jr. Tom Fisher plays the bewildered straight man, fled his old wife and baby to become a bum. Prepared to lose everything. Meets Aiden, annoying but tender, they feed from each other. This is how you make films when you have no money, a decent script and very good actors. Echolalia
Treacle Jr reminds you that the most interesting people are those with a disadvantage to quote Guillermo Del Toro. The reverse domestic violence parts don't normally get shown on video. After watching the film, you have to ring the doorbell of a friend and ask to trim their bush whilst holding a pair of paper scissors. Rubin Farr
I really enjoyed Suicide Squad, going in with low expectations (27% critics score on RT vs. 70% audience score) helped me enjoy what was good about it. Several plot holes that were a result of studio re-editing I think, and unevenly paced in the first act, it took WAY too long to get out of the prison. The good: Will Smith was great as Deadshot, but he didn't wear the damn mask! Harley also stole the show, as her over the top character usually does the firefights were excellently choreographed, haven't seen that much gunfire in a superhero movie before special effects were well done, glad they invested more money in polishing those up the tone seemed well balanced (again almost entirely at night) with quips and one liners that mostly worked Joker's gang included some very obscure characters that would probly never show up in a DC movie again This movie made me smile several times, whereas BvS just made me groan. keep these flicks at 2 hours long, unless it's an epic climax like Justice League or Avengers The bad: With no external threat at the start, Amanda Waller had no reason to assemble the Task Force, and ended up creating the threat she was trying to protect against She killed her own men for no reason, gee maybe they could have provided an armed escort out of the city?? The big baddie went out like a pussy, after surviving a grueling battle (demon vs demon was maybe the best part) Leto's Joker seemed generic, he was sadistic but I'm glad they watered down his abuse of Harley Why does Bruce need yet more files on Metahumans when he had routed Luthor's computers completely? People seem to brush off helicopter crashes like a mild cold What was Enchantress trying to build, a machine, a spell? Would it possess everyone on Earth, or send out more tentacles? Amanda Waller never gave permission for Harley to join the team, she just showed up and was instantly accepted This was way better than BvS IMO, a fun comic book action movie, with minimal brooding and better dialogue. Ripping off Guardians of the Galaxy's soundtrack was a weak move though, and came off as desperate. Guest bitroast
watched star trek: wrath of khan again, first time was sometime after seeing the jj abrams film, this second time was first since becoming bit of a star trek fan. "trekky", if the term still applies?? the ending hit me so hard. its all a little cheesy and melodramatic but.. it. just. works. the music. the editing. the shot of the planet with the sun peaking out. 8/10 would be a 10/10 but im deducting 2 points cos it requires 2 viewings to wrap head around all the plot narrative everythings and fully appreciate it. maybe thats why its called star trek 2 (first film ?? what first film ??)
