oh right, the ending was pretty lame. If the effects weren't syfy channel terrible, maybe I would've let it slide. The rest was pretty solid though.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

:sorcerer: you will not be disappointed, my semite.

well i was, for a movie that involved a bunch of cool guys (the director did animal collective's oddsac, eric copeland is involved in original soundtrack+lot's of cool people's released music is used, chloe sevigny who sucked cock on a film for art and etc) it was pretty pedestrian and casual, apart from some neat montage turns and lead actress' naturalistic vibes. the first hour is just a bore and lacked focus, and the climax, though a lot of fun, is kinda predictable.

I liked it RIGHT until the end. It stumbled over its own feet and fell flat on its nose. Less is more.

the Danes have a way with conveying such nuanced, insightful & universal experiences, plus the crow genocide scene was priceless

The Martian was great. Nice to have a proper science focused film for a change, hollywood so rarely makes an effort or even attempts to get anything right.

drive - i fucking love this movie. follows the great verhoeven tradition of cinematic trolling - on screen and behind the camera. let's make a trashy LA car flick with the pacing and terseness of ozu.

i'm actually amazed this was ever made and i'm even more amazed it works and holds up to repeated views. perlman and brooks steal the troll show.

reddit the movie

The Martian was like Homer Simpson in Space such was his last minute attempts, pure luck and cheese by the kilo. Is it not Scott's most profitable film?

We got stuck in Gladiator once bc Road Trip was sold out, lol.  I kept telling everyone "this movie is awful", then it won best picture and I gave up trying.  2000s had some real shit Oscar winners dinnit.

Positive Metal Attitude

I've installed Plex Media Server on one of my laptops so now I can stream tv shows and movies while at work... aaaaah...

The Neon Demon - Exactly what I expected, yet somehow still disappointed. Elle Fanning was an awful choice for the lead rôle.

Still better than the 90s though. I mean, The English Patient and Shakespeare in Love.

I watches Solomon Kane a few nights ago, it was actually pretty good for what it was. A lot of dark supernatural type stories like that fall heavy into cheese territory but this one barely skirted it once or twice, stayed on track surprisingly.

Man VS Snake.

doco on guy holding and wanting to reclaim his record on Nibbler world record. nice little 'follow up' to King of Kong in a way. largely the same movie but with different characters (although main man billy mitchell and walter day are in it).

recommended if you like king of kong but would rather watch something new instead of rewatching :^)

Eye In The Sky.

this movie has its heart in the right place and it's interesting watching drone warfare unfold compared to conventional war movies (I'm in no position to say how realistic it may or may not be). overall though it's a bit too on-the-nose and self-limiting in what it has to say. I liked it still.

RIP Alan Rickman
