Man I'll definitely be watching the new Trainspotting. It's not the mid nineties and I don't expect it to hit me like a freight train like the first one did, but I remain positive. Will be interesting to see what they came up with.

Rewatched Gonzo: The life & work of Hunter S. Thompson again last night, so uplifting to be in the presence of such an awesome fellow for the duration.

I like Trainspotting , but it doesn't really mean anything to me one way the other (only saw it a few years ago, I think). I'll probably end up seeing this one, even if it reeks of putrid nostalgia.

Doctor Strange - kinda cheesy in parts, and everyone ran like a damn girl.  I liked the ending though.

sick of "allegorical horror" or whatever subgenre this is part of. sick to death of it. this wasn't scary or even effective. i want monsters that don't have some metaphorical subtext. tired of boring attempts to "elevate" or "transcend" genre. the babadook was shit and so was this. horror movies are fucking dead.

Gone Girl - Surprisingly good. I didn't hate Ben Affleck in it as much as I thought I would. The twist was a bit eh though.

Room - No, not The Room, the one based off the book. Is there a specific word for this sort of film? "Misery porn"? It's just bleak from start to finish. Reminds me a lot of 3096 Days (same premise but the latter based on real life events). I just feel like it's scene after scene of stuff meant to make your stomach churn with no real substance.

Boyhood - Fucking Christ this was boring. But OH MY GAAAWWWWD IT TOOK TWELVE YEARS TO MAKE?!

I loved Anomalisa in the most depressing possible. There were parts of it that annoyed me but I don't even remember what it was now?

Anyway, I think it was pretty straightforward interpretation-wise. It doesn't really require that big a psychological analysis... or am I missing something?

they all offer open courses

So anybody can study this stuff if they want to
