I really enjoyed that new baumbach film on netflix with hoffman and stiller and sandler. Hard not to like a film that can make you care about terrible people. Pretty funny. Might have to be middle aged i guess. Which i am. Plus Hoffman was pretty great.

It was alright but I felt like it should've ended like 4 times before it did

I've been sick for a couple days so I went on a movie marathon

Train to Busan: zombies on a train. The best character dies with like 30 minutes left in the movie

The Wicker Man (1973): fucking creepy as shit even though everyone knows how it ends

Get Out: really enjoyed this, especially the buildup when you're pretty sure you know what's going on but not 100%

The Innocents: not normally a gothic horror guy but the atmosphere in this was incredible, never seen anything quite like it

From Beyond: The Thing quality practical effects, gross and awesome. sucking brains out people's eyeholes/10

The Invitation: this movie looks like it was shot in a porn mansion with porn actors on a porn budget and it's one of the most unsettling and terrifying movies I've ever seen

XX: 3/4 of the shorts were good, but only the first and last really stuck with me. Sadly kind of underwhelmed by St Vincent's short

Tales of Halloween: Brainless but mildly entertaining

Fright Night: I fell asleep. Probably not gonna bother to finish it

The new Fright Night was fun, I never saw the original.

I saw the RLM Half in the Bag for From Beyond & Reanimator and it really made me wanna see From Beyond. Reanimator is of course great.

Reanimator is next on my list after seeing From Beyond, what a wackadoo masterpiece. Also I'm down for anything Jeffrey Combs is in.

Also Barbara Crampton is the most game actress I've seen besides Sheryl Lee

Yes, the actors really do sell it all in how they handle things no matter how insane it all gets. At least in Reanimator, they make it work flawlessly despite some absolutely ridiculous moments.

Oh yeah totally, there is stuff in From Beyond that absolutely should not work but does because the actors commit 100%

From Beyond is like one big nasty comedown at an after party hosted by Derek Jarman in a sex dungeon and there is an infinite supply of lube. Shit gonna wriggle.

Lol, yeah, jeez, I wouldn't like to go to one of you guys Halloween parties, I'd get totally spooked out

After Reanimator you should definitely check out Dagon

If that's another Stuart Gordon joint I'm super in

Perfect Blue. Berry good. If only Japanese animation wasn't so good, I wouldn't be an anime manchild otherwise.

Also check out Paprika, Satoshi's completely tripped out film.

Positive Metal Attitude

Brawl in Cell Block 99 or whateverthefuck it was....

loved the car destruction scene, the initial immersion in sticky life events & then the prison world enveloping everything

the last scene was a cop out, but for its relentless levels of face stomping ultra-violence it had a bit of heft, nowt ground breaking but fun when it mattered if broken limbs up close & personal are your thang

Heaven Knows What

This was really good. Isao Tomita music all over the place, gritty and realistic acting, nice cinematography, and fucking Necro of all people has a strong supporting role!?

It's on Netflix right now, highly recommended.

*oh shit, also just realized that this was directed by the guys that did Good Time

Brawl should’ve been much shorter. And some of the filmmaking was amateur. But tonally it was unique.

Meyerowitz Stories - solid actor’s piece. Funny and natural. The actress who played Jean nailed it.

Raw - creepy and gross and funny and gorgeous/disgusting to look at. The sound design was also excellent - first time I've ever been physically uncomfortable watching someone itch a rash. I really dug it. French nubile cannibals/10

Malatesta's Carnival of Blood 7/10

Xtro 8/10

A Dark Song 9/10

I Don't Feel At Home In This World Anymore 7/10

The Witch Who Came From The Sea 7/10

The Brain 6/10

foods in the tone of 'go to the fuckin store'

patayda chips

apple cracker thangies

carrots in brown paper bag
